Three Pointers- Neto-4/4, Burke N/A

Neto is getting left pretty open right now on some sets, so he has gotten some good looks. When he is set, he has very good and minimal mechanics w/ a very set shot for a player his size. Neto's shots on the move are an entirely different story. I wish he would cut out these awkward 1-footers and pull ups and opt for a floater. If he can successfully make himself a threat when he is driving, he will be a pretty good PG.

As far as the 3pt disparity with Burke. I think that's just a weird sample size case. There is no way in hell Quinn would tell anyone on our team not to shoot 3's. Let's also recognize Burke had some great passes, my favorite of which was his drive and kick to Burks for the And-1 3pointer.

for one second, allow yourself to wonder about why those two games are the ONLY two games of his career where he hasn't shot a three. Then, allow yourself the thought that you don't know what Q is doing. Because you don't.

there's something to this. Sometimes, you break a player's bad habits by taking things away. Trying to add things to Burke's repertoire certainly hasn't borne fruit. So,....

No, that isn't the case. Burke's worst habit is shooting off-balanced midrange pull ups off the PNR when he has more time to set himself. He is still doing that. Quin wants 3-pointers. He would never tell a player, especially one who just finished shooting over 40% from deep in the pre-season, to suddenly stop shooting 3's in the regular season.

It has been surprising. To me, that Lyles-Booker combo looks like absolute trash. Very surprised not to see Withey.
This.

I hate the booker lyles line up

You can't know what Q would never do. You simply can't.

Trey's worst habit is producing bad offense. You're acting like I said something like "If a person chews his nails, put his hands in gloves so he can't," which is an extremely over-simplified way of understanding what I'm saying. Sometimes you can produce breakthroughs by embracing restrictions. That's a basic tenet of any worthwhile psychology. And I think it's pretty obvious that Burke is on a short leash (which lengthens considerably when he isn't ****ting the bed).

He really had some great dimes last night.

On that specific assist, he uses the Gobert screen well and gets by his man heading to the lane.

Then the whole 76ers defense collapses and Burke jumps over all of them to make a cross-court pass to the corner. Really nice set up play and recognition, Hood was wide open too as you can see.

Burke also has a horribke tendency to overdribble, run down clock and shoot threes.

It provides the spacing though.

And how else are we going to give Lyles minutes to develop him? Hopefully Lyles actually scores sometime soon and he can get some confidence.

the presence of Booker isn't helping Lyles with spacing. Him playing C is, but not Booker himself.

I don't disagree. I simply stated that I don't like it when Booker and lyles are on the court together.
I need the jazz to win 42 games so I can collect my money. I don't care about development this year, I want wins

He has been quoted several times in articles about wanting his team to take more 3's. How many open 3 looks has Trey passed up so far? He also has been quoted several times about wanting a faster paced team, so why would he tell a player to pass up an open look? Why would he let Burke shoot a lot of 3 pointers in pre-season, have him do well with those shots, then say "Nah, stop shooting those Trey"? He isn't. True, I can not know exactly what Quin says to his team, but I can infer from what he has stated publicly about his desires for the team.

The defensive pressure from teams just picks up and he hasn't gotten good looks yet. He may be cautioning Trey not to take bad 3 point looks if the shot clock is winding down, and urging him to attack more when "ice" is called instead of wasting dribbles outside the 3pt line, which have resulted in less pressure shots.

Burke isn't on a short leash. They cut the 3rd string PG. He is going to be getting minutes all season. I'm sure there is a lot of pressure on him (put on himself individually) because this year is essentially a competition to be the backup next year between him and Neto.
