Three Pointers- Neto-4/4, Burke N/A

It provides the spacing though.

And how else are we going to give Lyles minutes to develop him? Hopefully Lyles actually scores sometime soon and he can get some confidence.

the presence of Booker isn't helping Lyles with spacing. Him playing C is, but not Booker himself.

I don't disagree. I simply stated that I don't like it when Booker and lyles are on the court together.
I need the jazz to win 42 games so I can collect my money. I don't care about development this year, I want wins

He really had some great dimes last night.

On that specific assist, he uses the Gobert screen well and gets by his man heading to the lane.

Then the whole 76ers defense collapses and Burke jumps over all of them to make a cross-court pass to the corner. Really nice set up play and recognition, Hood was wide open too as you can see.

You can't know what Q would never do. You simply can't.

Trey's worst habit is producing bad offense. You're acting like I said something like "If a person chews his nails, put his hands in gloves so he can't," which is an extremely over-simplified way of understanding what I'm saying. Sometimes you can produce breakthroughs by embracing restrictions. That's a basic tenet of any worthwhile psychology. And I think it's pretty obvious that Burke is on a short leash (which lengthens considerably when he isn't ****ting the bed).

He has been quoted several times in articles about wanting his team to take more 3's. How many open 3 looks has Trey passed up so far? He also has been quoted several times about wanting a faster paced team, so why would he tell a player to pass up an open look? Why would he let Burke shoot a lot of 3 pointers in pre-season, have him do well with those shots, then say "Nah, stop shooting those Trey"? He isn't. True, I can not know exactly what Quin says to his team, but I can infer from what he has stated publicly about his desires for the team.

The defensive pressure from teams just picks up and he hasn't gotten good looks yet. He may be cautioning Trey not to take bad 3 point looks if the shot clock is winding down, and urging him to attack more when "ice" is called instead of wasting dribbles outside the 3pt line, which have resulted in less pressure shots.

Burke isn't on a short leash. They cut the 3rd string PG. He is going to be getting minutes all season. I'm sure there is a lot of pressure on him (put on himself individually) because this year is essentially a competition to be the backup next year between him and Neto.

Burke also has a horribke tendency to overdribble, run down clock and shoot threes.

Yeah, so Quin isn't saying "Don't shoot 3's" he might be saying "Hey, when we call ICE, dont just overdribble going nowhere, try to penetrate or go to the basket" which is resulting in less 3's.

How many open 3s has Rudy passed up?

Q is also quoted as saying he wanted his players to be better one-on-one players and several jazzfanzers noticed oddities in the preseason that looked like Q gave players green lights to make one-on-one plays. Perhaps Trey's threes came in that context, which has hitherto been restricted by the limits of good team play? Sounds very plausible to me.

Trey played very few minutes in the opener because he wasn't playing well. More minutes yesterday when he was. That's evidence of a leash. For a counter example, look at Gordon: he'll play his minutes regardless because he has proven to be a plus-player.

DL is on record saying they'll use available cap space on a PG if production is below expectations. More evidence of a leash.

Trey passed this up. There is something to these first two games with no 3PA. The fact that he never has had another game in his regular season career without a 3PA is evidence of that. We know Quin wants more 3s but maybe he wants Burke to focus on creating 3s. Who knows.

Gotta love Cy. The fact that Quin has something to do with Burke not taking his usual ****ty 3s is obvious. We have a 2 year sample to make that very clear conclusion.

Had I been coaching the Jazz, the first thing I'd do is tell Burke "the first time you take an off the dribble 3, you're back on the bench". It is Burke's worst habit, by far. It goes in under 20% of the time. It kills the offensive flow. It goes counter to what is needed from a PG. It is lazy as ****. The only surprise is that it took Snyder this long to do this. Burke is actually a good shooter when his feet are set and he is open. He should not jack up bricks otherwise. He would make a respectable probing PG due to his size and decent handles. If that doesn't suit him, he can be replaced by... anyone, really.

Burke's not going to survive as a shoot first PG on a starting squad where every other player is more efficient than he is. I hope he's finally seeing the light on this - last night were some of the nicest passes he's made in a Jazz uniform.

I think Pleiss is getting uniform time now over Withey because they need to know if he can play at an NBA level - after seeing some garbage time I think ultimately he'll go down to the D-League with a scope of work to focus on and Withey will be the back up 5. Ironic Pleiss is being viewed as a project being he's actually older than Withey but I think there's a lot of folks in the Jazz FO that are rooting hard for Pleiss to succeed for obvious reasons.

Same thing with Lyles - he needs to go down to the D-League and get 20-25 starts under his belt and maybe the game will slow down for him a little bit - he's definitely not ready for prime time.

Let's go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well known that Neto had terrible 3P% last yearas well as a bad 2011 rookie season.

But....

2012-14 International(Gipuzkoa): 45/126 = 36%
16 games in FIBA + Nike global: 7/17 or 41%

Has a decent shot at being an above-average 3P shooter.
