Time to jump aboard a SF bandwagon

We have a thread for all draftees. We have a few threads for potential PG's.

The Jazz have a need at SF as much as the PG position. Hayward certainly has skills but his shot is not coming around like I would have hoped for. I am starting this thread to discuss the potential SF's in this years draft and to start picking sides (similar to the PG thread).

Here are the different levels that I see for the SF's.

Elite:
Barnes
MKG
Miller

Other 1st rounders:
Jeff Taylor
CJ Leslie
Doug McDermott

All others:
Darius Miller
Tony Mitchell

Please add to this as much as needed. I know that I am missing a lot of talent, but these are the names that I am following right now.

Well I'd love MKG because he is what the Jazz need non skill wise. But the Jazz need a shooter and sadly that is not him...

Only thing I'd do differently is creating only ywo categories;

- Lottery picks (ONLY Barnes, MKG, and Miller)
- 2nd rounders

I mean it respectfully that we don't need any additional categories. Because that's all we got.

Today: Darius Miller got off to a good start for UK (because MKG went to Calipari and asked to be benched to start the game so Miller could get an earlier start .. Cal agreed) .. and he did well. 16pts, 3rbs, 4asts, 2stl, 1blk (1TO, 1PF). TEAM player.

I'm locked in, with the SF's at Barnes for #1 .. MKG at #2 .. QMiller at #3 .. drop off. I think Jtaylor, DougM, Leslie, and TMitchell go before our pick. I like DMiller, I love Will Barton (WATCH this one .. wanted him at UK), Jae Crowder, Kris Joseph .. these are all good and viable players for us in the 2nd round.

I have been pulling for Miller for the last couple of months and Friday he looked great in the first half but then he disappeared in the second. This seems to be his game and I have been hoping that he would break out of that soon. Hopefully it is not too late.

I did think about doing those two categories but I thought that there would be a lot of other posters that would like to see that middle option.

I also see that huge drop off after the elite 3. The biggest issue is that even the elite 3 have big questions marks. I have been trying to talk myself onto the Barnes bandwagon but there is that gut feeling holding me back. Miller has been my guy for the last few months but he just leaves so much to be desired when it comes to full out effort as well as consistency. MKG would be great for this young team. He seems like he could be a guy to bring everyone together as well as push everyone past thier current abilities. Will he ever gain a threatening jump shot? I pray that he does because I am certainly rooting for him to succeed. If the Jazz had the shooting already in the SG and PG positions then I would be all over MKG.

MKG- will be one of the top 5 players from this draft, looking back in 10 years.

Barnes- will have a solid offensive career but not much of anything else.

Miller- Worst of the 3, very average career, IMO.

You can quote me on all of it.

What's interesting is, he has too much overall talent, work ethic, and intangibles to be anything but important for more than a decade. I'm just not sure he gives a non-contender enough to warrant a top 5 pick. In other words, he has everything it takes to put a team over the hump .. we're not close to the hump at this point.

I agree, I'm not in anyway talking about the Jazz in particular though, just the SF position in the 2012 draft is all........how I see it.

YOu think all that will enable him to become a shooter? I know he is expected to go higher then the Jazzs' picks but I really like what I hear about him.

The sad part is I can seriously see mkg and miller going back to school. Mkg because he wants to and miller because he would get to be the man next year. If this happens the we have to either look at the second tier or go second round.

This is just another reason why we all should be more educated on other options.

If MKG could shoot like Barnes he'd be a top5-decade pick. Yep, that's all he's lacking .. but shooting is important.

As PKM said, the top 3 are the only SFs worth taking in the lottery. Taylor is projected to go around #20, where we don't have a pick anyway. We have to go with BPA, so getting more educated on guys that aren't lottery-worthy seems kinda pointless, to be honest. We should look at guys like D-Miller cause he'll be in the 2nd round, sure, but we're not going to reach on someone like Taylor in the lottery.

Overall, I think scouts have the rankings right with Barnes, MKG, Miller (in that order).

As it stands, our pick is in the Miller range, and I'd be perfectly fine taking him. He has huge upside (maybe the most of any SF in the draft), but he's also got the biggest bust potential among the top 3. Personally, I think he's worth the risk, especially since we need a SF.

I have said Taylor will work his way into the late lottery. He plays defense, he shoots the ball, he is athletic, he has a great first step. Only knock on him is he will disappear for stretches and he is a senior not as much upside. He will be ready to play from day one.

His dad also played in the nba so he also has the bloodlines. There is the chance of moving down some maybe for a second rounder.

With Miller's falling off I would probably pick Barnes. Would have to move up to #3 to safely get him, and the asking price might be higher than warranted. What shall KOC do?

He will spend the time up to draft day wearing his "No Comment" t-shirt, while giving his "Michael Jordan Rule" speech.

Tonight was the first time I got an NBA personnel to tell me, by the player, their prediction (I've asked 50 times, it seems). I asked for first round .. they stopped with what they called 'the lottery' but was actually thru 16.
