What's new

Time to jump aboard a SF bandwagon

You're not alone. (1)I can honestly say I didn't really care what the Jazz' record would be this season. I was excited by the prospect of watching Kanter, Burks, Favors and Hayward start to develop some chemistry, then be joined by a new PG or wing next season. Wasn't that the OKC model...take some losses in Year 1 in order to be better in Years 2, 3 and forward?

(2)Instead, I see, almost on a daily basis, some other youngster scoring 20 pts or pulling down 15 boards. Why? Because that team is giving him PLAYING TIME. But outside of (3) Hayward, who truly has had a disappointing year, our other three lottery picks aren't given enough time to develop any consistency. I really hate the coaching staff right now - and KOC, Rigby and whoever else is letting it happen. All I know is that Sloan started playing Deron more after Larry H. used the word (4)"fire," in whatever context you believe he meant. Unfortunately Greg has little passion for the game and management appears content with the status quo. Oh well, I can at least cheer against Miami, Chicago and the Lakers. While the Jazz are off vacationing, I'll be hoping for an OKC-Philadelphia series (or Indy or Orlando).

Great post. I have to spread some rep around but I will get you again later. Where do I start.............

(1) Yes that is the model that I had in mind as well. I know that there will be a lot of people that point to Durant and Westbrook and say that he was a future star. OKC knew they had talent and they were willing to be patient to make it work.

(2) It is more the frustrating, it is infuriating. It seems as though every analyst, scout and opposing team can see that the Jazz have a very bright future. Why can't the Jazz see that and build for it. It seems as though the Jazz are going to be mediocre for 5 years instead of being a contender.

(3) It is his role on the team and who he plays with. I like that he is getting his coming off the bench but when he plays with Al and Millsap, they get theirs and he disappears.

(4) I will be using this very soon. My only hope is that KOC can save Corbin form himself.

If Barnes and MKG are off the board I still want PJIII. I still think he could be a 3, and he'd give us an enormous frontcourt.
I've only seen him a few times, but he does seem to have some quickness, and his length should make up for the fact that he would be slower then most sf's. Couldn't he be a Lamar Odom kind of sf? Also he seems more comfortable on the perimeter anyway.

Odom's probably his best comparison. I really think he could be a good SF.

Tonight was the first time I got an NBA personnel to tell me, by the player, their prediction (I've asked 50 times, it seems). I asked for first round .. they stopped with what they called 'the lottery' but was actually thru 16.

Davis
Drummond
TRob
Barnes
Sullinger
MKG
PJones3
Brad Beal
JLamb
QMiller
Rivers
Henson
TJones
Lillard
Marshall
TZeller

Great list. For the Jazz, I still like Q. Miller and think he's just not getting as much attention as he deserves surrounded by upperclassmen and PJIII. He's also coming off his injury. I think MKG will be a significant player, not because he does any particular thing well, but because he's a nice combination of athleticism, IQ and heart/motor. I've never been sold on Barnes. He's a good player if you liked Allan Houston and Steve Smith.

I think Mike Moser and Terrence Ross are also worthy of a mid-late first-round pick, acknowledging that Ross is a swingman who is probably better at the SG spot.
