Tip Off Trade Possibility

Seems nice. Not only Nash but Gasol would do a great job on teaching Kanter, Favors and Gobert new moves'n stuff. Lakers would agree. But I'm not so sure on the T-Wolves side.

This gets Love where he wants. We get to have Nash mentor Burke. LA gets under the luxury tax (or closer to it/-8 mil overall). Minn gets expiring contracts to tank or some nice pieces to try out and convince to stay. We get LA's first round this year, 2014 top 3 protected or 2015 top 1 protected.

You must be a Laker Fan. How does this help the Jazz tank? There is no way in hell the T-Wolves would do this. Besides I don't think LA has their first round pick this year. I believe they traded it for Nash.

Not a Lakers fan. In doing this trade, the Jazz bet that Lakers will tank while accounting for Kobe's return. If Kobe returns he gets them a few games alone and finishing around 6th worst or so. Wolves can see that Love will most likely leave for the Lakers so this assumes that they want to get something for him. No way anyone will give more as the Lakers since they can see that Love would most likely end up in LA. The whole reason for the Jazz is to get the pick. If we can't get that then the Jazz won't do it.

LA LAKERS
2014 second round draft pick to Milwaukee
L.A. Lakers' 2014 2nd round pick to Milwaukee (via Phoenix to Minnesota) [L.A. Lakers-Phoenix, 7/11/2012 and then Minnesota-New Orleans-Phoenix, 7/27/2012 and then Milwaukee-Minnesota-Oklahoma City, 7/11/2013]

2015 first round draft pick to Phoenix
L.A. Lakers' 1st round pick to Phoenix protected for selections 1-5 in 2015, 1-3 in 2016 or 1-3 in 2017 or unprotected in 2018 [L.A. Lakers-Phoenix, 7/11/2012]

2015 second round draft pick to Orlando
L.A. Lakers' 2015 2nd round pick to Orlando protected for selections 31-40 (if this pick falls within its protected range and is therefore not conveyed, then the L.A. Lakers' obligation to Orlando will be extinguished) [Denver-L.A. Lakers-Orlando-Philadelphia, 8/10/2012]

2017 first round draft pick to Orlando
If at least two years after the L.A. Lakers conveyed a 1st round pick to Phoenix, then the L.A. Lakers' 1st round pick to Orlando protected for selections 1-5 in 2017 or 1-5 in 2018 or unprotected in 2019; if the L.A. Lakers have not conveyed a 1st round pick to Phoenix by 2017, then the L.A. Lakers will instead convey their 2017 2nd round pick and 2018 2nd round pick to Orlando [L.A. Lakers-Phoenix, 7/11/2012 and then L.A. Lakers-Orlando, 8/10/2012]

LA Has their pick this year, but have already traded their 2015 pick.

I think the rules prevent them from trading away their 1st rounder two years in a row, so i think they have to keep it this year, (or trade it and get someone else's first for this year) if i'm not mistaken.

So the OP wouldn't work (i dont think they can trade this years unless they got a 1st back, and they dont even own 2015's rights anymore)

Uh, why would LA/Minn need us? LA wants to get rid of Pau, Love wants out of Minn.

Pau

for

Love and $800,000 player (looks like AJ Price).

Done deal.

#1-Trey doesn't need a mentor. He has Stockton.

#2-Kanter and Favors already had mentors, its their turn now.

Love is clearly the main player in this proposed trade...why would Minny trade away their franchise player for a bunch of Laker scrubs. Makes no sense at all for them, also the Lakers 2014 1st Round pick would most definitely have to go to Minny, not the Jazz.
