What's new

To all the Gordon Hayward Haters

Gordon has played great all season but his shooting has been off more than it has been on. This has to do with tired legs. When good shooters get jello legs they do not shoot well. Gordon has been run ragged until recently I do not think it is a coincidence that he is shooting better after getting some time off.

Locke said that he had run the most miles on the court by 7 miles over any player in the NBA at the end of the year. Now he has got some days off and is not at the top of that list and is shooting better. Gordon started well got overwhelmed, worn out and struggled. Now is getting more confident and has his legs under him and some rest. I think through the end of the season he will have some ups and downs but just like every season his shooting percentage will go up in the second half of the season and he will play better.

I'm not a Gordon Hayward hater, but I'm not going to ignore the reality that he has shot under 30% in 10 games this year. Another six between 30-40%. That's way too many bad games for me. He is progressing and last night was proof of that. What impressed me the most is that he was clutch. I have quickly become comfortable with Trey in clutch. Last night was the first time I can think of that Hayward took over a game.

Given the above, it wouldn't break my heart if he were moved for the right deal since I'm of the opinion he is not worth the max.

History has shown that Hayward has slowly progressed in every capacity that the organization has put him in. By March/April he will be playing like a number 1 option (19-22 ppg, shooting in the mid 40% range). This doesn't mean he IS a number 1 option.

And this is why I've said all along he'll get the money he wants as an RFA. And this is why Utah needs to tank. Worst case scenario is Jazz are handcuffed into giving a ton of money to Hayward while NOT getting an impact player out of the draft. This way we spend the next 3-5 years blaming Utah's middle-of-the-road success on Hayward's bloated contract - a la Kirilenko and Ostertag before him.

My thoughts exactly. Granted Hayward is better than Miles was, but please wait until after Hayward has shown he can produce consistently before starting threads like this.

Exactly. Agreed Hayward is clearly better overall, but we've both seen the inconsistency. Can he become a #1 or even an championship level #2? Right now he looks like a good #3 guy to me. Let's hope he proves us wrong, because everyday our dreams of Jabari fade.

So who is the number 2 on the Pacers? Is Hayward any worse than that guy? Most think they are a championship contender, and Hayward is probably better than anyone but Paul George on their team.

Eat Crow! haha. Seriously though 37 points, 11 boards 7 assists and did i mention he shot 13/16. Hayward is showing more and more that he can be a 2nd option on a good team (and it looks like Kevin Pelton agrees).

That is so lame!! trade Hayward for a 1st round out of the top 8. Isiah Thomas could do a better job than that. trading a proven high level talent for a freakin lottery pick out side the top 8 is honestly something David Kahn would do. It's.. it's... oh man, its so bad I cant describe it... the lameness of it is ineffable. Seriously, as Locke noted today, even if Hayward does get a huge deal, it wont even affect our ability to re-sign this years upcoming draft pick at all. the deal will end with our 2014 lottery pick's rookie deal. and seriously, its not like we are gonna land a superstar via free agency.

And Numberica, I dont even want to hear it. Dont hate, dont hate. Dont kick against the pricks. You have a scrupulous track record for being way off in your predictions regarding Hayward. Just saying! (I'm partially jocose in my intention)...(goes for you too The Jazz Fan)

HottieNickkk, your wrong man. simple as that. It sucks sometimes... you know... to be wrong... but you are.

Zulu, can I get an Amen!!

WTF?? Wrong about what???

+1, well said

Hayward also had a game against OKC where he went 2-9 with 6 turnovers. Shows how consistent he is....

Lol, showing him having one bad game is no more telling of them as a player then referencing one good game for that player. I get your point but damn man come on.

It does though. It shows that he is inconsistent. I am sure that Hayward will have a better go of it from here on out. That doesn't mean we should forget his early season struggles when contract negotiations come up. It seems like he has always struggled to start a season and then finished well. That's why I am on board with dealing him. His value is going to be inflated by his late season play IMO.
