To get the number one pick...

I like burks a lot, but obviously can't trade Hayward for number one. This is the package I think might land a number one. So my question since you obviously weren't paying ****ing attention. Is that too much for Jabari and would our new core 3 ( maybe burkes for 4) be contenders?

Yea that is WAY too much if you are the Jazz but probably not enough if you are the team with the number 1 pick. Jabari hasn't proven he can play in the NBA. Yea I know he has NBA offensive skills and is a pretty sure thing in the pros but there are questions if he can play defense. He is a tweener on the defensive end. Besides we still don't know if he comes out. How are the Jazz going to replace Kanter, Burks and the 6th picks production. Jabari is really good but he can't do it on his own.

The season isn't over and the Jazz may move up in the lottery especially if they play like last night or we may get lucky and move up to number 3 like we did in the past. Kanter just had 27 pts and 10+ rebounds and you want to package him for a shot at the number one pick. Jabari isn't even the clear number one pick in the eyes of the experts.

I think people are overstating the importance of getting #1 in this draft. There's not a Lebron James generational player in it. Lots of great players with All-Star potential, but not a slam dunk stud regardless of the love for Wiggins, Parker, Embiid.

I think that could be a contender in 3 years. Jabari, not so much.

All the major networks base the #1 pick off who is picking. I have seen Parker (Utah, Boston) Wiggins (Bucks, Sixers) and Embiid (Orlando) all get picked #1 in mocks.

is Kanter or Burks, + #6, + #20-something enough to move to 3 or 4? I think thats the more realistic question. #1 picks are rarely ever traded right?

Interesting.... I kinda agree.

I would definately do the trade though (even though it would mean burks is gone).
Like pkm said..... take the risk and go for the home run.

But like ugli said, the team with the first pick probably wouldn't do it.

Why? You are getting two potential 20 ppg scores and the 6 the pick in an 8 man draft. There are no Durants or lebrons. Chad ford and bill Simmons recently said wiggins will have a derozan type of ceiling. If the jazz offered that package for derozan they would be nuts.

That said, I wouldn't trade that package for number one. We be rebuilding for 2 more years at the very least. We are a top 8 pick, an offseason of development and a few tweaks away from the playoffs. Add in a superb coach and we could be in contention a few years from now.

Yeah, but Wiggins could turn out to be the next Jordan and then the GM would never have a job again.

It's too risky for a GM with a #1 pick to trade it in a draft in which there is hyped talent.

Public pressure will outweigh what might actually be good judgement skills.

I believe that if corbin started and played burks and kanter similar minutes to hayward and favors then this deal would work

Right now the team with the #1 pick sees us offering a 6th pick and 2 bench players that dont even average more than 14 pts per game and are not very good defensively.

Now if corbin was starting them both and playing them both around 36 minutes, then we would be offering a 17 pts 10 rebound starting 21 year old big man and a 18 point per game 22 year old starting slasher with tons of potential + the 6th pick..... than might be enough

Corbin chose to go with jefferson and marvin though...... One think im quite certain of is that if you offered the #6 pick + marvin and jefferson then it wouldn't be enough.

Corbin strikes again.

I want Jabari too, but what happens if he will turn out to be a bust? I mean involving Burks and Kanter in the deal.

Or maybe an alternate question. What could the Jazz GET for the #6 pick? I honestly believe the Jazz may be "cashing in" on there pieces this offseason.
It makes more sense to me as I think about it. If the Jazz could pull off what the Celtics did like 6 years ago I would be totally cool with it.
Kanter plus the #6 pick could possibly net you a Kevin Love. A #6 plus Burke could get you Russell Westbrook? Who knows. At least the whole lack of tanking would be easier to swallow, especially this waist of a season.

Are Love or Westbrook the best at their position? Could they lead you to a title? No way on Love. I wouldn't touch him with a 10 ft pole. Westbrook? Maybe. Depends on how much you attribute OKC to Westbrook vs Durrant.

All that being said, I want a player that could be the best at his position. If we have the #6, and can move #6, GS pick, and Burks to get to #3, I do it in a hearbeat. You now have this team:

Burke-FA backup PG
Hayward-???
Parker/Wiggins
Favors-Kanter
FA Center - Gobert

That team wins 45-55 games next year.

Contention? With this team and a #8 pick? I disagree. We had the best PG with Deron, and couldn't make it to the finals. You need to have the a player that is the best at his position plus supporting cast. There isn't a player on this team that could be the best at his position and the #8 pick probably won't be either.

Our team is CLOSE to contention, but we need that "best at his position" player. Someone that can take over any time and carry a team. We NEED that top 3 pick. I'd give up our pick, GS pick, Burks and Kanter to get the right guy. Maybe more. Because without the right guy, you are contending.

Basketball is a one man sport.

Season ends...lottery takes place. Jazz are stuck at 6. Would kanter, burks, 6th pick and early second move us to number 1? .

Your dreaming bro. Whoever has the number one pick will believe that the person they draft is going to be a franchise changer.

I'm the opposite.

Westbrook relies on his athleticism and now that is in question - I wouldn't touch him.

Love on the other hand is legit offensively. Pair him with a defensive Center and a proper PG and I think you're a contender right off the bat.

Need to pick up a bench scorer in the offseason. Prolly find a serviceable bench big with the gs pick. Seems hefty price to pay and not sure we would be better, but won't have to commit to kanter or burks long term if the jazz are uneasy.

of the core 5 hayward is the odd man out.
then burke as a pg is easily replacable
