To win or not to win @ GS - dilemma

If you knew that a loss would mean us moving up from 7th to 6th in the lottery and a win would mean GS missing out on the play-offs, thereby moving our 2nd pick from 20+ to 14th, which would you prefer? Would it be more important to move up one spot with our own pick, or several spots with the GS pick?

i'd rather have the 14th pick instead of the 23rd pick,

7 and 14 has more trade value than 6 and 23 i would think.

Really hard question.

What's the % difference in getting into the top 3 from both spots?

Not a hard question at all.

You'd rather have the 6th pick and the extra 10% chance (about) that it gives you to jump into the top 3.

Having a better chance at jumping into the top 3 is something that could change your franchise. Moving from 23 to 14 isn't changing your franchise.

Swing for the fences.

Alright, I'll make the scenario a little harder.

If you knew 7th and 14th pick could be traded up to get the 4th pick, would you rather have that then the 6th slot (still chance to move up in lottery) and 23rd?

^Keep in mind Aaron Gordon can be picked at 4th and he will be the best player in the draft^

A tough question for Cy.... Would you rather have otto porter, aaron gordon, or moultrie?

So, if 7 and 14 could get me the 4th pick, would 7, 14, Burks and Kanter get me #3? I'd do that deal.

You want to trade two young lottery Players with ALL-Star Potential + two lottery picks, for one lottery TOP 3 Pick in the next years draft ? This could be a very big steal for the opponent. If the next years draft is really that deep and strong, than you could easily pick an All-Star Type of Player from the 7th or 8th spot.

If Kanter and Burks are reaching their ceiling playing for the opponent with a good coach and If you pick a bust at top 3, which is kind of possible, If you consider that Darko Milicic was picked above Anthony, Wade, Bosh, Kaman and West in the 2003 draft.
Than you would kill all the future plans of this franchise for the next 6-7 years.

I thought Aaron Gordon was already playing in the Nba for the Kings.

I say if there is a chance to stick it to the Warriors then stick it to the warriors. My suffering as a jazz fan is eased a bit if I can watch the warriors suffer too.

I'll answer your question with another question.

What if on the day of the NBA Draft you decide to clean your pet turtle's tank, so you take him out of the tank and put him in the bathtub. After you finish cleaning the tank you return to the bath tub but the turtle is gone. To whom do you make your first phone call and do you still want the #7 pick?

If you are trying to say Gordon is like D Williams that is a really bad comp bro.

I can see the argument against Gordon for sure, but his game aint like DWill's.

Absolutely. No team has won a title without a hall of famer. I want to win a title. I would trade everyone not named Favors to move up to #1. Give me Favors, the #1 pick and a bunch of one year deals with some savy vets thrown in and I'll win a title before a team full of Burke, Hayward, Kanter, Burks, the #7 pick and the #14 pick.

Wow, tough call.

A loss in this tank race has much more value than a loss in Golden State's playoff race. To miss the playoffs, three teams have to pass GS (Phx, Dal, Mem). Winning at GS would hurt our tank whle likely making little difference in GSW's playoff battle.

I know the OP is posing a hypothetical question, but if the Jazz don't take their tank seriously, they could end up 9th or 10th, not 7th in the lotto seeding. The Knicks, Pelicans and Nuggets are losing a lot of games right now.
