What's new

Today is the day?

Hollins isn't a DL guy. That's all we need to know.

Wrong. I thought so as well, but the more I dug in, the more I realized this simply is not true. DL and Hollins have a history, and he will be Utah's #1 choice.

I thought this as well, but the Jazz are going after Hollins hard. I'd put money down that he is their #1 choice.

They have history, Hollins was successful with Zach Randolf (Kanter), he won, he develop young guys, coaches tough defense, etc.

I don't know if he comes to Utah, because there are better jobs out there [Detriot, Lakers, possibly Denver, Cleveland, Milawaukee, Dallas, Minnesota (but Milwaukee and Minnesota might be the only job worse than Utah, ha ha)].

I'd be shocked if Lindsay hasn't already contacted Hollins.

Hollins played at Dixie College, so he is familiar with living in Utah. The Jazz job is better than Detroit, Denver, Cleveland, Milwaukee, and Minnesota. I would take it over Dallas because that team is on the downhill slide, and you want to be seen as improving the team rather than watching a team fall out of the playoffs. The Laker job is dicey right now as well because who wants to coach a failing Kobe Bryant? Can you imagine that drama? If you come into Utah and make the playoffs in the next two years, you will have a job for the next five. All of the other teams change their coaches like some people change their socks. Players like nightlife, coaches like organizational stability. I suspect that if we want Hollins, he will be here.

Lol, I am sorry but no one on here has any idea who is or is not on the coaching short list. That includes theories on Corbin. We can assume, and postulate till we are blue in the face. But that is all it is. Theories, not facts.

You are sadly mistaken

Not sadly... and if not a boss, then part of the team with him. It's not like KOC is out of the picture.

You work for the jazz or something... feel free to lie in your response as most will just assume you are someone in the Jazz organization no matter what you say now.

Today might actually go slower than lottery day. Holy cow. Just fire/release/reassign the guy already.

JUST DO IT.

Lionel Hollins leads the Grizzlies to a WCF after trading Rudy Gay and gets fired that some off-season? We need to sign him, no doubt. Will we? Doubt it..

Gonna be awesome when Corbin is re-signed. Then, after another off-season of internal improvement, the Jazz have a better record next year and everyone talks about Corbin's 'improved coaching abilities'

O'Connor remains the Jazz's executive vice president of basketball operations, but he is no longer the team's primary decision-maker. That job belongs to Lindsey and his new assistant general manager, Justin Zanik. O'Connor will scout for the Jazz, in addition to offering advice when Lindsey or Zanik ask for it, which will probably be often.

Thanks for the info. I was mistaken as well; I thought KOC as EVP would be Lindsey's boss. But I do remember that whole snafu over whether or not KOC had been dismissed or was still employed by the Jazz. I don't think we know the whole truth about what happened. Sounds like KOC was going to step aside completely but they convinced him to stay on in a "Yoda" capacity.

I'm guessing 30 wins.
But Lindsey is going to have to fill the roster with undrafted rookies. Otherwise the #4 and #23 picks will never see the light of day.

I'm gonna bet Ty stays as coach. The reason? The Millers and a poster here said Ty was baptized into the Mormon Church this past year with Greg and Gail in attendance. If that's the case it's a game changer.
Thurl Bailey was baptized into the Mormon church. It was quite some time ago, but I can see how you would get them confused.

Changing religions in the name of job security?...Ty is going to hell.

Hollins WON'T be the next coach.....and here's why:

Hollins was fired because he was fighting management. The Grizz went very analytics/stats based (they hired Hollinger). Lionel Hollins is an old school coach and their philosophies weren't matching.

Dennis and Zanick are very into analytic's. So the styles again don't match up.

That makes sense. Having said that, to get a job Hollins maybe be willing to compromise on the advanced stats thing. DL wants to build this thing with defense and Hollins is the most proven guy in terms of coaching defense in the NBA among the available candidates.
