What's new

Tomic

In what role? He would be abused on defense and he is not really stretch 4 so I am struggling to see him fitting in

He has quite a bit of versatile talent offensively. I'm sure he could carve himself a niche. He doesn't need to have KG defense if he's gonna be a bench big.

The good news is it looks like Kanter's contribution to the team is replaceable.
u must be kidding.
Tomic and Kanter are two different players with completely different games.
Tomic may have finesse and superior basketball skillz but Kanter is a physical beast (in comparison) and is easily twice the rebounder Tomic at his best is.
I like (no, LOVE) Yugo players (and Euro basketball) but NBA is not the right venue for them (=where ballhogs, ripped-muscles-no-brains-bball-style are praised)

I think European players will look at dudes like Pero Antic who has already carved himself a starting role, and consider jumping over the sea themselves.

Not everyone can hope that your starting center is out for the season like Al Horford..

But i am really curious about how he would fit in the nba system.

Forget about Tomic. He will never play in NBA.

I agree because it seems like he doesn't want to come over. Whether he lacks the confidence or realizes he will not be a star in the NBA, I think he still has NBA talent. If the guy is the best player in the top league in Europe I think he could play a reserve role playing center in the NBA. He might struggle defensively but I think he could score decently. It doesn't really matter because I agree he is not coming to the NBA for whatever reason.

He could be a piece for next year. Who would you rather have Gobert or Tomic? I'm serious.

Gobert and it is not even close. Tomic is finesse big man who is doing fine in Europe but in NBA he would be huge liability. Short wingspan, no leaping ability, poor rebounding and no shot blocking at 7'2?. Good passer though.

We can only dream he joins our point guard next year.
History has shown that the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Top 16 is one of the toughest phases in any basketball competition, and experts agree that this season's Group E is among the strongest ever assembled in the competition. As such, FC Barcelona's undefeated record after eight games in Group E is a marvel to behold and a good reason why its most dominant player last month, center Ante Tomic, is Euroleague Basketball's slam-dunk choice as bwin MVP for February. As Barcelona defied the odds to become the first 8-0 team in Top 16 history, Tomic has made the most intense stretch of the season look easy. He started February by scoring 16 points in a double-digit home win, but that was his low point of the month. He ended it by stringing together the best back-to-back performance index ratings ever recorded in the Top 16. In the process, Tomic also posted the first 25-point, 15-rebound performance since the great Arvydas Sabonis of Zalgiris Kaunas did the same 10 years ago this week. It marked the second February in a row that Tomic has won the same award, which is more than a good omen for Barcelona and its fans look to return to the Final Four. While other teams prepare for six more rounds of Top 16 drama, Barcelona could qualify for the playoffs as early as this week and then concentrate on clinching first place and homecourt advantage. All that becomes more than likely if Ante Tomic keeps playing like he did in February as the bwin MVP of the month!

I try to read these posts. I really do. But cmon, just put a couple line breaks in there. Reading this brick on a cell phone makes me epileptic.

Your 1st problem is that you actually attempted to read a homeytennis thread like it was worth reading.
