Top 10 Best Jazz Players of All Time - Final Round!! **VOTE NOW**

Vote on your TOP 10...yes you may select exactly TEN PLAYERS!!!..or less if you can't decide I guess

  • Total voters
    108
I got to 8 pretty quickly with Stockton, Malone, Eaton, Pistol, DWill, AK, Rudy and Don. Then it got hard. Gave the nostalgia vote to Griffith, in part because he was in an old dos computer game I used to play. Final vote because he’s not only been an excellent player for many years, but also a personal favourite and all around good dude: Favors.
Had to leave some deserving guys off the list, but that’s inevitable.

Thanks for doing this btw, LogGrad98! It’s been fun!

Stockton
Malone
Horny
AD
Golden Griff
Pistol Pete
Eaton

Should all have their number retired. That is 7 and Gobert is the greatest center in jazz history.

That means 2 only , IMHO, to vote for. One went to thurl.

Hard for me to leave off pistol, just such a unique player, love watching his games.
Same. I love to think about what he might have been had he played in the era of the 3 point shot with modern training techniques and such. He did so much with just what he had available to him. I think he would have nearly been a taller Steph with better handles and better moves around the basket and better play-making, which is terrifying to think about (if you are the opponent).

Wow, with 40 voters so far, we have NO consensus votes. 2 people felt Stockton and Gobert should not be included and 1 person felt Malone should not be included. Very interesting to see. I am surprised honestly. I thought we have about 4 or 5 that should have been consensus, in Stockton, Malone, Gobert, Mitchell, Williams and maybe AD, but I knew the recency thing would knock AD down a few notches.

40 seemed like a good number to do a recap for so far in the vote. Here is the list in current (40 votes) vote order, separated into top 10 and bottom 10, with the number of votes:

Top 10
K. Malone (39)
Stockton (38)
Rudy (38)
D Will (35)
Mitchell (34)
Pistol Pete (30)
Dantley (26)
AK47 (25)
Eaton (25)
Horny (21)

The rest
Hayward (16)
Boozer (13)
Griff (10)
Ingles (10)
Okur (8)
Millsap (7)
Big T (4)
Favors (4)
Truck (3)
J. Malone (1)

I think that top 10 could hang against some pretty good teams. Interested to see where we end up, and if we can get to over 60 voters. Kind of tells you we have about 60 people registered on JazzFanz that are active enough to at least vote. Let's keep it going folks!!

I didn't vote that way, but it's probably the actual top 10. I think this experiment of yours is working.

How in the world does anyone leave Stockton and Malone off their vote? That makes zero sense, unless they are 20 years old.

I went with Dantley/Boozer/Griffith/Williams/Mitchell/Stockton/Malone/Eaton/Maravich/Gobert

I feel like the Utah Jazz wouldn't exist without Maravich. While I didn't get to watch him play, I've seen all the others (except Robinson). I picked the ones who in some way moved the team in a more positive direction, not just the players that were really good.

Now if we did a Most Loved Jazz Players of All Time List, mine would look a bit different.

That should be next.
