Top 5 Targets for Summer 2018

I really hope Favors returns, and I think it's probably about a 50/50 chance at this point. However, for the sake of fun with speculation, in the following I'm going to make the assumption he's not.

A few ideas (second two are super reachy, reckless speculation):

Jabari Parker - I'm definitely unsure on this one, but I still think he might have a lot of upside. The Bucks have suffered some pretty awful coaching, and I can't help but think he could be helped considerably by having Quin. As for acquiring him, I think the only avenue I find worth considering is some kind of a sign and trade deal. I don't even know if this is possible, but I could see some kind of double S&T based around Jabari and Faves. The Jazz would likely have to add some extras, but I could see their salaries winding up close enough to provide a basic framework.

Tobias Harris - I don't have any particular reason to think The Clippers actually have any interest in trading him, but I am imagining a hypothetical scenario where they might: The Clips have two late lottery picks, where there could be a possiblity of picking up Miles Bridges. If the Clippers fall in love with Bridges, I can see them deciding to sell on Tobias. Alternatively...

Miles Bridges - This is basically an exact inverse of the above scenario. I believe the Clippers have picks 13 and 14. Perhaps they decide that Miles Bridges is, at that point in the draft, the BPA by a significant margin. At the same time, maybe they like Tobias, and convince themselves there's too much overlap between the two and their expected roles. In this situation, maybe they decide they can extract the most value by trading down in the draft and picking up additional assets, rather than drafting a player they view as a lower value pick, but better fit. Not really sure what the Jazz offer along with 21, though. All of this assumes that Miles Bridges drops that far, of course.

Bit off topic.

So even though I don’t think it’s a perfect pairing, they love eachother and chemistry can be more important than complimenting play styles. And Mitchell and Rubio compliment eachother fairly well still.

So forget Exum maybe we sign him cheap, maybe not. But we can’t assume he’ll be much help in the future. But we do keep Favors and Rubio.

So shortly after free agency begins this is out starting lineup:

Rubio
Mitchell
Ingles
Favors
Gobert

Royce and Crowder as the main bench guys. With the usual filler to round out the roster.

Can that starting five compete in two years? Do you just assume Mitchell is gonna get that good and roll with what got you here? And what would the missing piece be? Would have to be a bench guy, or you’re replacing someone in that starting lineup. If so, who’re you replacing?

Lindsey is in a tough spot. No room for error while building this team if he wants to have a shot.

sure they can compete in the West semifinals that's it.

I'm all for Avery Bradley. Could play with Donovan, Rubio, or could go small and play all 3 together. Give him a 1 year deal and he can try to prove himself for 1 big deal in 2019 when more teams have money to spend. If it works out, Jazz can resign him.

Paul George!!! He would fit so well in the starting unit for the Jazz and bring Ingles off the bench. I think George would enjoy the Jazz system and playing with Rubio, Mitchell, Gobert and hopefully Favors. After getting beat by the Jazz, he should see the possibilities of playing for them, like Durant to the Warriors
