Top 5 Targets for Summer 2018

The reason Lebron wont go to the Lakers is they are coached by Luke Walton. Lebron is thirsty for a real coach. Brett Brown or Mike Dantoni. Period.

Walton did a great job this year. He also played with Lebron the last year of his career.

I see no reason for him not to go to LA. They are one of the few teams that can give him the max, pair him with a star player, and a high potential supporting cast.

The Lakers have to decide between these two options:

#1 Stretch Deng and let Randle go. If Deng allows it, they might be able to restructure his deal through a complicated scenario where it only costs them around $4 per year. Still $4 million of wasted cap space for a long time. And if this was their plan, why havent they done it? Why are they saying publicly that everybody is on the table?

#2 They dump Deng with Kuzma but add multiple first rounders and keep Randle. Sure, it stings a little to lose Kuzma, but how is LA keeping him happy anyway? If you get LeBron and PG, who loses a ton of touches? Ingram or Kuzma? My bet is Kuzma because Ball, PG, Ingram, LBJ, Randle. That's the starting lineup that works best.

So if I'm LA, I take Randle, multiple 1st's and no wasted cap space over no 1sts, no Randle and wasted cap space just to keep Kuzma. And lets not kid ourselves - Kuzma is good but not some ridiculous stud. He fits our needs. He's not a star.

If LeBron wants to come then the Cavs May accept Deng and a couple picks in a sign and trade. Hart maybe too, but not Deng.

I don’t think LA has enough for two max guys if one of them is LeBron... he gets 35-36M vs. 30-31M.

The extend Deng deal would be so clearly circumvention that the other NBA teams should straight lose their **** if it is approved.

The Cavs won't take Deng in a sign and trade for LeBron. The picks wouldn't be worth it and the Lakers could just sign him. But you bring up a great point about LeBron's max. Its going to be massive since he was named to NBA 1st Team again.

The Lakers just need to trade Deng. The Laker hype would be ridiculous. I don't buy that they would be good for long, but our future with Mitchell, Gobert, Kuzma and company would be so, so bright.

Perhaps not, but he still did 16.6 on 45% from the field, including 36.6% from three. Players are proven to get better in our system as well. If your DL, and you are offered Deng and Kuzma for our Ungs (minus Royce) and Burks (to make the numbers work), you do that deal and call it a day. You kill cap for a bit, but Deng becomes expiring in two years, which becomes an asset. Not a great one, but it's still 18.8m. If the FO believes in that core of Kuzma, Mitchell, Gobert, Ricky, and Ingles, you sit that in the oven and let it cook.

Nemanja Bjelica just became more gettable after KAT was selected to an All-NBA team second year in a row and he will be eligible for the higher end(30%) contract extension so the Wolves would have even less money(even higher luxury tax) to pay other players. I would be shocked if DL doesn't try signing Bjelica this summer. It just makes too much sense.

Maybe the reason KAT is on the market. Even though he's eligible doesn't mean Minnesota is going to pay it.

IINM, AD is now eligible for the super max. Might make Mirotic easier to get - if NO is interested in re-signing Cousins.

I trust Lindsey but I really think Jerami Grant is a better investment at the same position.

Trevor Ariza - tough defender, leads by example, championship experience, hard worker, corner three.

32 going on 33 in June. If our championship run was next year maybe. He is going to be washed up by the time we make our run in 2-3 years.
