toronto traded this years pick. that means that can't trade next years.

The best we could hope for is Jazz get the ability to swap picks next year. Might move the Jazz up a couple of spots, it might not.

Not if we also trade them the #21. Then next years pick is game. Then the Jazz would have converted a late first rounder in a weak draft into a mid to high lottery pick in a loaded draft.

I can see a sign and trade with Millsap or Jefferson working.
Working how? Why not just re-sign Al or Millsap, who are the superior players (by far)?

I'm having a hard time understanding why the average poster on Jazzfanz seems to want the Jazz to turn into the Kings.

So now I'm average?

I would MUCH rather spend 22 mil towards getting Tomic on this team. Seriously.

My point is simple. If the Jazz can get a lotto pick next year then it is worth it. I have no interest in the Jazz being the new Kings but lets look at the situation a little deeper.

How many games has Bargnani averaged over his career? Without looking it up I would guess it is around 70 or less. That works with the plan that most of us "average" posters want which is more time for the young guys.

He also has two years left on his deal. That means that the Jazz will have money freed up at the time that Favors and Haywards extensions kick in.

The Jazz still need big man depth. Bargnani will help with that.

Why Bargnani over Millsap? For me it is simple, Millsap is not the same player from his rookie contract. He seems to have more drama in his life. Also, I personally believe that it is time to hand the team over to Hayward/Favors/Kanter. Hayward admitted during the locker room clean out that he deferred to the vets because he thought that was the thing to do. He wants to and needs to take over. Millsap will prohibit that IMO.

And last but not least, a possible lotto pick next year. In an average (there's that word again) draft it wouldn't be worth it. By all accounts the 14' draft is anything but average. The more picks that you can have in it the better, especially when there is a high chance that it is a lotto pick.

I will now go back to my "average" ways.

Bargnani is too hefty of a contract to take back for a draft pick. This franchise isn't gonna swallow 22 mil for a 9th pick next year. Absorbing a contract along the realms of Shawn Marion makes more sense.

And that is a contract that gets you the #13 pick in a weak draft. I do like that scenario if both Bazz and Schroeder are on the board when the #13 pick comes along.

I don't see the Raps giving up a pick just to dump Bargnani. Even if they dump him, they'll only have the MLE to work with in free agency this and next season. Dumping picks for nothing doesn't make a lot of sense (hell, dumping Bargnani just so you can use the MLE isn't exactly a no brainer).

But make no mistake, Bargnani is ****ing terrible. He does nothing well.

Now we can both agree on that. Like I said, I would only do it if the Jazz got something good back in return and IMO an extra pick in the 2014 draft is something good.
