Trade Conley/Olynyk

I would do a Conley for Hardaway Jr swap. His contract is front loaded and goes down the next two years. Will look like an extremely good contract in 2 years. I would bet the Mavericks would do that.
There is no reason to take on the extra year of Hardaways contract without an incentive. Either Hardy or a future 1st would have to come back.

He makes 16.2M in the extra year. That will look like peanuts comparatively. That will be an extremely tradable expiring contract. I would love an added incentive but it’s not a deal breaker to me.

Olynyk for Wiseman. Well that would certainly hurt us this season because the current James Wiseman is in the G league.

If he could ever be developed he's exactly the type of big athletic C archetype we could use in future years to keep from constantly getting pounded on the boards every night. Ofc I'm sure the Warriors thought the same before they stupidly made him the 2nd pick.

I'm on the fence. Ainge would need to do alot of serious character investigation on Wiseman before pulling the trigger. It's very possible they just end up grabbing a big athlete in this draft to fill the role.

As far as I know Wiseman doesn't really have any character red flags. His primary issue is that he basically missed 1 1/2 years of basketball development because they had issues getting his knee right. Then he only played a few games at Memphis because of an NCAA investigation and deciding he wanted to focus on the draft. That is a ton of missed development time for any player but particularly a big man. He is definitely the type of player that I would love to get a look at without having to worry about expectations.

The question you aren't asking is who can we sign with that 16.2 million in capspace. The 2024 offseason is likely when this management group tries to begin adding key pieces through free agency. Also why do you have interest in a player that either wouldn't get any playing time or if he does then it means he is stealing minutes from a younger player that needs to be developed? Wouldn't you rather see those minutes go to Ochai, NAW and THT.

Can't make sense of this. Clarkson definitely opts out at the end of the season meaning we then have to pay him to keep him. He is 30 and likely to get worse over the course of his next contract. The time to cash in is now should we go the tank route.

I agree. If it was up to me, I would move him at the deadline, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Jazz end up signing him to an extension.

I’m fine with not seeing much more of NAW or THT to be honest and both of those guys aren’t going to be here the year you’re talking about. It is about maintaining an asset. There is no guarantee that we sign anyone with cap space either.

I understand where you’re coming from though and it did make me think about it a little more. I get why we should do it and why we shouldn’t.

If he develops the way everyone sees him in the future…. He’s our version of Rasheed Wallace to put us over the top

Wiseman is 100% worth an Olynyk flyer in my opinion. He hasn't looked great in the G-League I have heard, but he still has massive potential, and replacing Kessler's backup minutes (as he slides to starter) would do wonders for the tank.

I would do it but doubtful Golden State sells that low on him. You never know though I guess.

We should be actively looking to trade Olynyk right now. Kessler has been awesome as the starter with him out and he should be the starter for the rest of the season.
Even though KO doesnt play 5 on offense, he really struggles to defend anything but 5s. So you might be right.

Problem is Vando has had 4 games playing 4 now... he was awesome against Detroit (his best game to date) but bad vs Bucks and Cavs and abysmal against Wizards.

So if we trade out KO, we need a new forward who can play 3 and 4... bringing Vando in from the bench.
