Trade deadline discussion

I'm confused, this looks like one of the richest crops of solid starter/sub-all-star players I've ever seen (Barnes, Grant, Collins, etc.) being dangled.
There's been a lot of chatter for a while with no movement. Can't tell if there are false reports or just teams checking interest. Like Grant for instance - he might not really be available.

If we threw Conley, Bojan or even Rudy out there, I think we would have some amazing feedback. They address certain needs for teams immediately. Specialists.

My blow up the team idea!

New Coach - Ettore Messina

Trade #1 - Mike Conley + Udoka Azuibuke for Marcus Smart + Jason Richardson and late 1st, or 2 2nds.

Trade #2 - Jordan Clarkson, Elijah Hughes and Jared Butler for Eric Gordon.

Trade #3 - Donovan Mitchell, Royce O'Neale, Joe Ingles and 2 1st round picks for Robert Covington and Damian Lillard.

Roster is:
C- Gobert, Whiteside
PF - R. Covington, R. Gay, E. Pascall
SF - B. Bogdanovic, J. Richardson
SG - M. Smart, D. House
PG - D. Lillard, E. Gordon, T. Forrest

The grant trade talk reminds me of the AK47 for Matrix talk. It’s not gonna happen.

I think Josh Richardson might be my favorite realistic trade target. Averaging 9.5 points a game, shooting nearly 40% from 3 and most importantly is a good perimeter defender. I wonder if Joe's expiring contract and one or two second round picks could get a deal done? I definitely wouldn't want to give up a first for him.

I think the reason that the Celtics might be looking to trade Richardson is because of the luxury tax (they're nearly $2.8M over the line). This idea would do nothing for that.

While the Celtics probably have multiple options to get under the threshold, the cleanest fit to do so involving the Jazz would be a Richardson + Nesmith (remember when everyone was sure he was a better prospect than Bane?; apparently the Celtics may be willing to move on from him now, however) for Clarkson swap (of course additional draft assets could be added as needed). No idea if the Celtics are interested in Clarkson, but the financial fit is good for them (not for the Jazz, of course, who would add to their luxury tax).

If there were no draft assets added, I'd probably go for that deal straight up, and hope, while shedding a tear, that the Jazz can find some way to use Joe's contract to reduce the luxury tax.
