Trade DL anticipations: New winds or par for the course?

I had not considered Anthony Black but this is low key such a smart post. Jazz were VERY high on him in the draft and there were rumors or reports they were trying to move up.
A point forward with size and ball handling skill who can also shoot and guard multiple positions should be the leagues hottest commodity. Orlando is playing with fire by giving Black the leash right now. Unless they find a long term solution for Banchero/Suggs who are nowhere near the value of lucrative deals they signed, they would have to let Black go to avoid the second apron. Assuming Bane/Franz are off the table for them.

So why do the Magic trade for him and why do they want our garbage non-star players? If you want Black, you're giving up Ace. That would be valuable to the Magic to turn the clock back on paying a rookie contract player.

Otherwise the Jazz cant really offer them that much. I would guess they either try to offload Suggs for an expiring contract to make room for Black's pay day, or they deal one of Wagner/Palo for huge asset package.

It's much more realistic to think about the Jazz getting Suggs. He's extremely good and fairly paid for how good he is, but he's also perpetually injured.
It's either Suggs or Black for them. No one wants Banchero’s contract given how he perform this year. And Bane/Franz should be off the table.

Im sure no one wants the athletic 6'10 scorer/playmaker who is only 23 cuz he's having a letdown 4th season.

Have you watched him play? Or just look up his stats. The guy is having an all-time falloff. Magic might be a perennial mid team because of him and his ridiculous max. Like maxing Julius Randle, who's even having a better year than Banchero btw.

ok bud.

Banchero is not a playmaker lmao. Not sure a career 1.58 career A/T can constitute “playmaking”.

The Magic will eventually have to trade one of their guys once Black is due for a pay raise, but they won’t be making a decision now.

Paolo is not good, but he still has premium trade value. I’m hoping they stick with him and make Franz available. Very unlikely that happens though.

Banchero on around 30mil has trade value. Paolo on a max has negative trade value. No teams could afford to pay max for a non-max player in this day and age.

No way he has negative trade value. I don’t think he’s good, but he is overrated. Getting harder to believe by the day but plenty still think he’s a superstar.

It's the max we are talking about. Whoever trade for him needs to firmly believe in him and allocate even more assets to build around him. Not sure such team exists given how he's playing this year. They gotta be really really desperate but even then, I would rather take my chances in the draft if I were them.
