Trade Favors/ Keep Kanter

I was strung out on Favors the last two years, but this season brought me back to earth. He is still the same kid with a world of potential but who's fine with coasting unless his opponent has a name. If he ever matures enough to the point that he prepares for and cares about every game, he'll be incredible. We'll be incredible. But given his age, minutes logged, consistent role, etc., we are fastly approaching the career of unmet potential. I think next year will tell us all we need to know about him. I'm still hopeful and believing, but would be lying if I said I wasn't concerned.

Unfortunately, I agree with this. Favors engagement in the game seems to come and go - sometimes in between shifts. The Indiana game sticks out in my mind. He came into the game and played like a beast for 9 minutes, was subbed out, came back in the 2nd and then coasted through the rest of the game. It was almost like, "OK, I had a good burn and we're gonna lose anyway so I'll just check out for the rest of the game".

I hate to make the comparision but the player who comes to mind is Derrick Coleman when he first came into the league. Every game he would start out, dunk, blocked shot, dunk, rebound, dunk, rebound....then the other team would make a run and he'd lose interest.

The other thing I find disturbing is he does not run the floor well at all. I can't remember the last time he was on a fast break let alone scored. We can blame Corbin for pacing all we want; but the fact is the kid is never a presence in transition.

If they can play together fine. If not kanter has to go.

Again, why? Let us say that they cannot play together. Then that more than likely means one didn't develop as much as we would want.

Then just have on back up the other...

Say Favors/Kanter at C. Kanter would have a fun time wiht back up bigs most nights.

Favors has actually improved his offense a lot this year, his next step is bringing his entire game together for consistent play.

Wow, I was getting blasted in another thread for being disappointed in Favors.

I know it's cliche to say, but that^ is more of a coaching fix than player fix.

I completely agree but if we are using Corbin as the excuse for Favors then why does Kanter get so much hate?

Because Favors shows flashes of being a top defensive player, Kanter shows flashes of being able to play defense.

Kanter shows flashes of being a top offensive big man and Favors shows flashes of being able to play offense.

Edit: If only there were some way to take Kanters O and give it to Favors...

Are they a good combo? Right now, I would say no as they do not play well with others. Neither passes well or sees the court, and they both need to score from the low post mainly. I think they only succeed as a duo if Kanter steps out more AND develops a 3. If one had to go it should be Kanter. He just cannot play D.

13 ppg is more than a flash of being able to play offense.
