You are dreaming if you think Grant, Collins, Barnes or Smart gets us a championship.

Yeah, this is the biggest reason to even consider Simmons (not that I think Utah has the goods to make it happen). If the team is as truly far from being a contender as so many people are thinking now, it's unlikely that anyone we've been hearing about as trade targets is going to patch our leaks. You probably have to re-rebuild the whole ship. Simmons (potentially) gets you to that point better any other option.

By all reports he is an *** hat. He is definitely a bad teammate. His jump shot seems broken. He is afraid of the big moments and seems to have mental issues on the court at times. Plus the latest refusal to play and all the drama because he got called out for a terrible play. That is extremely toxic behavior and childish. He has a lot of huge flaws. There is a reason no team is making a big offer. There is a big upside to him but plenty of downside and issues.

Any team in contention should probably avoid him. Teams who are close but would have to get very lucky to win it all might consider the risk worth it. I am a swing for the fences person so I would go for it. But to be honest the Jazz are not and wont. Most teams are going to avoid a toxic player unless they can get him for cheap.

Never heard of him being a bad teammate. What went on in the playoffs behind the scenes no one will know 100%. If anything I think Doc Rivers needs to take more accountability for this situation, the way he threw one of his star players under the bus for his own security is inexcusable.

Anyway, if the Jazz don’t want to fall off a cliff and contend over the next few years while Rudy and Don are in their primes Simmons is the man. Compliments both their deficiencies so well. It would be a legit big 3.

News flash: Sixers aren't giving up Thybulle unless someone like Harden or DM is coming back, and maybe not even then.

Just stick with the basics:

• Conley and either Ingles or Clarkson work almost perfectly money-wise.
• If you acquired Harris too, then Bogey and the other of Clarkson/Ingles would need to be added as well

In either scenario, you're likely blowing up the season for the Jazz (while paying mega-tax) and putting faith in the prospect of building cheaply in the offseason around a Gobert/Mitchell/Simmons/(Harris) long-term combo.



Still don't know why Philly would do this unless they're completely bluffing about their willingness to keep Simmons past the trade deadline and about needing a serious young prospect. (It would sure help their chances this year, though, for sure.)

He is currently a really bad teammate. The way he has treated his teammates regardless of what happened is awful. That part is very public. I am guessing you are a huge fan of all Aussie players and in particular him, so you're probably pretty bias towards him. But he is a big risk. I agree if the Jazz could get him for a reasonable deal they should take that risk. But there is far more risk than he just doesnt fit these days. The 76ers are unlikely to trade him for what we can offer. Unless for some reason they think Conley and Bogey put them over the top to win it all this year.

Simmons has also been pretty bad in the playoffs multiple times and borderline unplayable at the end of some games. He has mental health issues. That part he might be lying about, but if so that makes it even worse. He might not be able to play for any team. Plus there is his play style and that could be an issue. If he cant shoot its really hard to pair him with Gobert on the court. Unless you have 3 off ball shooters around him. But we are giving up a lot of shooters to get him. This also takes the ball out of Mitchells hand when they play together. If Mitchell is playing the pick and roll Simmons cant provide space for him. Defensively it would be great, but offensively it is a tricky fit. But it could work potentially.

But if it did work out it could be great for multiple years going forward.

I dont think they are bluffing, but you never know. I agree getting Thybulle to go with him is really unlikely. But if you are taking on Harris deal that they really want to get off of and cant maybe. But he is also a risky player. His defensive numbers jumped up big time this year and could be an anomaly. He does not stay in front of players which leads to his unique defense that seems to work but it puts pressure on the team sometimes. He like to let guys get past him and bother them from the side or behind. Maybe this works great with Gobert but it also might lead to huge breakdowns for us since we dont rotate well. He does provide something no one gives on our team which is deflections and creates turnovers a lot. He also isnt a good shooter or scorer. He definitely could not play with Gobert and Simmons on the court.

The problem is that they want to get off Harris to sign Harden. So if they are getting rid of Harris/Simmons to free up money, they wont want the contract of Conley because that is a long-term deal that I assume would prevent them from signing Harden to his large max contract.

Simmons has been overly criticized for his playoff performances. If you look at this stats, they are great in the playoffs.

I think him and Gobert would work. Quin would have to change up his system a bit. Ben could really thrive in a space where he will get less media focus. Gobert is also a player who is massively hated by general nba fans, so Simmons/Gobert could bond over being villains in the NBA. The defense with Gobert/SImmons/Royce would just be incredible. Mitchell can be an *** defender if he wants to be and it wouldn't matter much as long as the 5th guy is league average. Rudy/Ben would possibly be the best defensive duo the NBA has ever seen.

Even if teams just go under on Ben in a Rudy PNR, with the floor spaced Simmons can just ram it down the paint and either draw defenders to kick, draw defenders to dish to Rudy, or get fouled going to the rim.

Assuming the Jazz can swing a Simmons deal, they will be giving up Bogey/Conley/Ingles at a minimum most likely.

That means you still have Royce and Mitchell as starters, who would fit perfectly with Simmons/Gobert. The 5th starter would ideally be some kind of solid defender who could also shoot from the guard position. House could potentially be that guy. Justin Holiday would be a perfect fit IMO in terms of obtainable vets.
