Trade Idea with Lakers

Raja Bell + Jamal Tinsley (after team option is picked up) for Steve Blake

Lakers get deeper with veteran solid backcourt back-ups that Kobe has expressed interest in before, two expiring contracts instead of two more years with Blake, and future cap room to re-sign Lamar Odom

Utah gets a quality back-up point guard and a solid shooter (39% career 3pt.); He has been hot in the playoffs shooting 47% from 3 and averaging 7.5 points and 3 assists. Utah gets rid of Raja and does a good deed for Tinsley, who was a true professional this season and would probably get restless if he was reduced to 3rd stringer again.

It seems like a small trade that benefits the needs of both teams.

What am I missing? Something has to be wrong with this but I don't see it. This is JazzFanz after all.

I think it's a really solid trade idea, good job. This is a rare occasion.

....all I know is if the Jazz had gotten Gasol when they had Stockton and Malone....we'd have 3 banners hanging from the rafters!

While 2001 was one of Utah's most obvious draft blunders taking Raul Lopez (#24) and passing up (in order) Gerald Wallace (25), Samuel Dalembert (26), Jamaal Tinsely (27), Tony Parker (28), and Gilbert Arenas (30), I do not see or remember how Utah had any chance of drafting Pau Gasol, who was taken with the #3 pick.

It does seem like a good trade. The only problem I have, and I freely admit it is a stupid one but I still have it, is that I'd try to find another trade before doing anything with the Lakers because they are the great Satan.

Wow, this is honestly a solid trade. You should post it on a Lakers forum, and see what those inbreds think of it.

I like it, except for this:
I'd try to find another trade before doing anything with the Lakers because they are the great Satan.

I don't care about Raja, but I'd hate to see Tinsley in a Lakers uni. That said, nice trade.

Yeah, I agree with Blues. This is just garbage for garbage. Not that I wouldn't do it, but it would be one of the most boring trades this year if it happened.

Right?

Wouldnt we just be rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic?

But this does sound like a complete offseason for KOC. So the trade would not surprise me.

In all fairness this is a trade where Raja Bell is a main piece. What did you two expect? While it might be our garbage for their garbage I still think the Jazz do good here.

Only part I do not like is giving up Tinsley. I like him. I'd rather throw in Watson.

That's a good reason why we dont do it. We have to give up Tinsley. **** Raja. Send him to the D league.

As far as throw in Watson, I dont get it. Watson was a fan favorite in the beginning. Then all of a sudden no one likes him. I still like Watson. I like his game, his toughness, and his leadesrship personality. I think he should stay.

Oh no, by all means, don't take my comment to mean I want realistic trade ideas like this to be the norm. Christ no! I fully expect people that can't balance their own checkbook to keep throwing out trades that are in no way financially feasible, completely one sided and just plain retarded.

Carry on, Jazzfanz.

If I am correct Raja is not eligible to be sent to the DLeague. The best option we have on him is trade him.

As for Watson, I like the guy for the reasons you listed above. I am just saying that if I am making a trade and one of the back up PGs has to be included for it to go thru I would include Watson over Tinsley.

Garbage for garbage? Meh, whatever. Getting rid of Bell is a priority and this does that. I'd hate to see Tinsley let go but at least it would get rid of Raja Smell.

Just because Blake got hot for one playoff game doesn't make him that good. He's a better 3-pt shooter than Tinsley but that's about all; Tinsley is a better floor general. Nah, pass on this trade.

Watson = unrestricted free agent.

Surely they'd have to run this by Kobe, and surely he would see that Bell is well past his prime. He did make the comment that "We are OLD OLD OLD" after we beat them in LA this year no less....

After which they promptly traded away Derek Fisher. So I don't see how they'd reverse that and bring in 2 guys who are just as old in Bell and Tinsley.

Just don't see it.
