Trade Lauri for The 3rd Pick

Who do you bench in that case? Neither Fox nor Castle will be happy coming off the bench for a rookie. Or do you bench Vassell and do some crazy 3 guard lineup thing.
Its not ideal. My guess is Harper.

The diff between 2 (Harper) and 3 is big for me. So, sure, id love 2 and 5.

I think there are guys that could pop at 21 as much as a dude at 3. Thats my thoughts. Feel free to think im a moron.
i don't think you're a moron, i just think there's a much better chance of striking gold with someone we get at #3 vs. someone we'd get at #21. there aren't that many Gobert's out there we can find and usually there's a reason a guy is picked at #21. i'm just a fan of maximizing our chances of hitting with high picks, while also getting us out of tanking fines...

Windy also said they may move it for someone not named Giannis. So lots of signals for now.

I think where this could turn weird is if Harper isn't keen coming off the bench or being 2nd or 3rd in the guard pecking order early and he signals such to the Spurs.
Lauri +21! get 'er done!

The good thing about Lauri is the Jazz can trade him for real value, or just keep him and trade everyone else. There’s no pressure to actually make a move now that the long-term contract is in place.

On the other hand. . . Collins, Sexton and Clarkson all need to go now that they’re expiring contracts. They have way more value in that regard than they do as long-term pieces.

If you trade Lauri you need to get some young talent in return. Enough with betting the farm on picks.

Any idea who? I think the teams most likely to offer a deal for Lauri are San Antonio, Houston and maybe OKC if they fall short of a championship. Maybe Miami? Most teams that are going to want him don’t have a young potential star that will be part of the deal.

Also, the Jazz would have to trade either #5 or #21 because Philly likely doesn’t have their pick next year due to the protections that they dodged this year.

So, it would look more like PG & 3 for Lauri and 21. Not sure if something else needs to change hands on either side, but I’d guess that would probably happen.

If the Jazz could end up with 3 and 5, it would be interesting to see if they would take Tre Johnson at 3 and then pick whoever’s left of Bailey and Edgecombe at 5, or if they’d take one of those two and then pick whoever’s left between the other guy and Tre.

OKC is not in play. They dont have a role available thats worth 50M and their current top 3 guys (SGA, Jalen, Chet) are gonna eat their entire cap in few years and you cant add Lauri's salary on top of theirs without getting into world of apron hurt.

I think they are only on the market to upgrade the fringes, unless they make a swing for a guy like Giannis by sending Chet or Jalen back in such a trade.

Our recent setback (moving down to #5), has me wanting:
1. Trade Lauri for max value
2. Trade Kessler for max value (I wouldn't want to pay a traditional center what his extension will be worth when we're on our [setback] timeline).
3. Trade Sexton
4. Trade Collins
5. Trade Clarkson

I'm honestly pissed if all of this doesn't happen ASAP.

I think after #2 its a complete crap shoot. I dont think you are building a contender from 3&5 in this draft. You're about as likely to do it with 5 and 21, IMO.
Wow, that's quite the take after hearing from so many people for so long how great this draft class is supposed to be. Wasn't that the narrative pretty much beginning with last year's draft (i.e., this is a bad draft class but next year's is boffo), or am I missing something?

You may well be right. I don't have an opinion as I don't watch college B-ball until pretty much the Sweet 16, and even then I find it borderline unwatchable.

I would say like almost every draft, a year out, there is a buzz about a few guys, but that changes as the year goes. Go look at a mock from a year ago and then one now.

Also, I am specifically saying I like a lot of guys mocked today in the late lottery/late 20's that could be big hits. In fact, I would love to look back in 5-7 years and bet on there will be some guys that come out of this draft, in that range, who are seen as some of the best guys in this class.

My brother saw a suggested trade with Portland for Ayton, Thybulle, 11th pick and best and worst picks in '29 between MIL, WAS and POR.
