Trade Lauri for The 3rd Pick

I would trade Lauri if we can get good return. For a simple reason, we won't be good before years at best and it does not match with Lauri timeline. At that stage we better trade all ''old'' players that have values and make a full rebuild through picks and salary space.

Regarding Giannis, zero chance he play at the Jazz. He already set up a list of teams he is open to play for and Jazz are not on the list. He will go to a flashy destination, LA, Miami, NY or near his current place, Bulls.

For me the question will be if DA finally admit he was wrong for 2 years and make the right turn. We can't attract star players ( small market, SLC...) unless we overpaid and overpaying a star right now with average players to put around him is not a recipe for success. Finds young guys, develop them and when they are at a decent level, try to get a star.
And who know we may finally pick a good player so having 3 and 5 could be interesting.
Anyway, i think we need a 3-5 years clear strategy from now on.

Harper will still be a rookie and he could use time under the tutelage of Fox et al, maybe even coming off the bench for S1. Isn't next year's draft supposed to be good also, even better? Another year with Lauri showing what he can do at his best would improve his trade value and help to grease the wheeling and dealing wheels. It's a marathon, not a sprint.

I understand why this thread exists, but I hope everyone here also understands that we didnt lose a full year here. We will start next season with #5 pick on the roster (barring trades), so the quality and depth or our youth is gonna be better than it was when last season started.

I mean, the thing is that we're still very very very far away from anything resembling a contending team and Lauri probably has max 2-3 years good years left.

We know we’re tanking next year, and just as a fan I don’t want to do this tank with Lauri thing again. Could be the best strategy if we can pull it off again, but I absolutely hate it.

Full youth squad would be good for the tank and better as a fan imo. Hate this ongoing fake injury thinking looming over the season.

Based on what? His back issues? If those are bad he may already be toast. If they arent bad, then in 3 years he is only 30 and looking at how fit he is physically its wild to suggest that timeline.

Dirk played great till he was something like 36. He was a better handler and operated from the post a lot better, but other than that they have a lot of similarities. Lauri may slow down on his rim running a bit over the years, but being a 7 foot sniper with quick release is gonna be valuable even after his athleticism starts to decline.

Ya when I thought we might get Flagg I was hoping to keep sexton, collins, lauri, etc and get to winning.
Now I say trade them all and go with youth and build for 3 more years or something.

Agreed. Just seems wasteful and mean to the guys who are good now that are being forced to miss games and play with lesser players when they do play and not maximize their primes of their careers.

You make a good point about his back. He already may be toast. In that case trade the F's out of him ASAP
