It’s Okur who needs to go, if at all possible. The Jazz could still keep Boozer’s scoring and rebounding if they can find a defensive big to play alongside him.
Okur to Orlando for Gortat. The Magic also trade another player, probably S&T Reddick, to an under-the-cap team to match salaries.
Orlando let go of the underused Gortat and get an outside shooting big, the role played by the fantastically-paid Rashard Lewis, who can then move back down to SF.
From the Jazz perspective, Gortat has the longer contract but a smaller one, reducing the impact on their payroll and/or tax should Boozer be re-signed. And from the Magic perspective, Okur has the bigger contract but a shorter one, ending around the time they need to re-sign Howard.
From the admittedly little I’ve seen of Gortat in the past, he has looked mobile and can defend, rebound and block shots. Here’s a guess: He’ll be better than Aldrich! Gortat, who’ll be 26, has not had his chance playing behind Howard but he could be that defensive big who’s realistically obtainable that the Jazz could play alongside Boozer.
