I'll bet you we could get Jennings for expirings... I don't think he has a lot of value... So why add the pick and if we give Trey I think they should add something not us.

There's not much id want on the pistons outside of Drummond

Yes, one team's trash is another team's treasure. GSW got rid of Ellis and it helped them a lot, but he wound up in Dallas and both Dallas and Ellis are flourishing. I know Jennings sucks on defense, and having Jennings/Kanter in the starting lineup would still yield the same problems as Burke/Kanter, but it can't be much worse.

I think Jennings was traded straight across for Brandon Knight. I actually like Brandon Knight as a 3rd guard.
 
I just feel like Jennigns is one of those players that if he finds the right team, he will really flourish.

I'm willing to bet that Jennings is a better man-to-man defender than Trey. Not too hard. Kanter would still be a problem, but you fix one thing at a time.

I completely disagree as far as being an asset. Burke's ceiling is basically Mateen ****ing Cleaves. Jennings on the other hand has (had?) an elite first step and ability to penetrate and if someone can harness that natural ability and teach him, he could be a stud.

No, sir, **** you and your plan of driving Utah to mediocre land. **** you very much. I believe Utah will trade picks to improve, but NOT this year. You would be giving up a pick to devalue our own pick. I don't care if it's protected, because it still removes the possibility of using that pick in a much better way. Talk to me again in the offseason, but if Utah is serious about building a contender, they won't give up a pick this year for anything other than a star. Ideally, Utah will grab another high pick this year, and then make a trade involving players and picks to take the next step up. Trying to take a small step up now would be bad management, IMO.

Expirings have very little trade value. There isn't much need for teams to clear space with the cap going up each season and a major increase coming up (likely smoothed, but still increasing significantly over 3-4 years). So we'd get a rental for 1 1/2 seasons. As much as I'm NOT sold on Trey, I like the fact that he's on a cheap contract for 2 more seasons and then a RFA thereafter. So IF he improves, Jazz can lock him up. Can't do that with the more expensive Jennings who is making $8M+.
 
Jennings' situation reminds me a bit of Rudy Gay's situation. Traded. Traded again. And Gay has been excellent in Sacramento this year.

The Ellis trade was brilliant by GS. Fine example of a great rebuilding move.
