Trade Rumor: Westbrook for Harris and Millsap

If the Jazz had the chance to get LeBron James, I'm reasonably certain this board would be full of people absolutely opposed to the idea, worried about how it would upset chemistry, claiming that losing Milsap was too high a price, pointing out all of LeBron's flaws, etc.

Granted Westbrook is not LeBron, but he WAS voted to the 2nd Team All NBA last year. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, on the current Jazz roster is even close to sniffing the All NBA Team, whether it be the 6th, 5th, 4th, etc. team.

Fans are funny at times.

And actually, a team like the Jazz probably should pass up trades giving them players like Lebron (unless Lebron guaranteed them that he wouldn't rejected the trade and would play here for more than 30 seconds). In case you haven't realized, players can decline trades. So what happens if the jazz severe ties with their own players only to have Lebron negate the trade at the last minute? Then we end up without Lebron and with a bunch of returning angry Jazz players.

Also, a player like Lebron would only want to use the Jazz. We've had enough players that want to use the Jazz as a mere stepping stone to their real destination. Then, we end up without Lebron and without the young players we traded for to get him.

The Jazz need to be careful being a small market team with who they draft and who they trade for.

I'm not sure you can trade Millsap anymore. He is the role model, the glue, the cheese that keeps the nachos together and makes them taste great.

He's also still the best player the Jazz have.

I think most fans will agree that he's the best player, but I'm not sure anyone outside of Utah knows that. As it stands, Jefferson is our primary option on offense. I wouldn't be surprised to see teams willing to take him over sap because of that.

I tend to agree, although I think the smarter/more informed fans league-wide still see Millsap as just the better player if you're talking about winning/playing on a basketball team. I spent some time on other teams' message boards (Pacers and Sixers) just looking at threads about Jazz trades. I was a little surprised at how often people would say something to the effect of 'Jefferson uses a ton of possessions, doesn't use them that well, is really slow on D, and costs a lot of money. On the other hand Millsap would be a perfect fit on our team and the price is right.' More people thought that than 'omg milsap is just so small tho sorry AL IS BIG LOW POST CHAMPIONSHIP.'

I'm being a little obnoxious, but I think I made my point well enough.

Getting to the point, I think their league-wide market value is similar. For my part, I take Millsap eight days out of the week if I have to choose.

While you make a good point, you're not considering that he's willing to do anything to acquire more PGs - no matter how many he already has - for some reason.

Harris and Tinsley would net them a PG. I also like Ridnour. What's his history with Watson? On a hypothetical note, I'd offer Harris, Millsap, GS pick and that guy we have in Europe that I completely forgot about for Rubio.

They played together in Seattle (and maybe early in OKC, too). For a couple years they both played and split the minutes with Ridnour usually starting. Watson publicly wondered why he wasn't a starter since Ridnour didn't seem much - if any - better.

That's what I recall anyway.

I love Millsap and would hate to trade him but here's the thing. If we went to trade him for say a 1st rounder, we'd net something like the 10th pick. If we traded Westbrook for the same, we'd net something like the 3rd pick. In your typical drafts of course. Westbrook has far greater value. And he's the type of asset that could later be parlayed into Rondo or another such point guard. I'm not saying that it's a no brainer that we should do it but I would lean that way.
