Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

Just going back to this trade, PHX is getting a lot for giving up very little.

Saric is trash. Jae is refusing to play for them. Their pick next year will likely be mediocre. They get back an elite or near elite shooter and a great hustle player. Both on team friendly deals.

PHX has to be put something else on the table or at least make the pick completely unprotected.
Just because Jae isn't playing for them doesn't mean he is nothing in the deal. At a minimum I am sure there are offers for multiple seconds on the table for him... so that value has to be considered.

Sure, of course, but damn, they are getting two very quality rotation players on multi-year team friendly deals. 2nd round picks have very little value to the Suns. Suns either got to take a bigger risk on the pick, or add some 2nds.

I agree its a nice deal for them. I don't think there is a lot of real value they should add though. Like is that worth two firsts for them? I'd say no damn way... we gonna make them put in a couple seconds? Not really too worried about that. I think the Suns are on a bit of shaky ground so I wouldn't assume that 2024 pick is in the mid 20s.

Also consider the Suns should be desperate as once Chris Paul is fully done, the Suns are probably fully done.

I think it;s likely true JC isnt a good passer/playmaker, but it's also true he's on a team that probably hasnt even tried to develop that into his game because of the Trae Young system.
Hard to get assists sitting in the corner and not seeing the ball much. Atlanta throws the least amount of passes in the league.

Yeah could be I guess. I was going to say that maybe he’s just trying to get his with two scorers in the backcourt but Collins has never had good assist #s as I recall.

Yeah, of course not two first. I would say it either has to be unprotected, or maybe another additional year out, or adding 2nd round picks.

New owner is the big thing there... and I think it makes it more likely they do a big move... if they were going to put in more than 1 first I think they go really big.

Rationally I think they should try to make a deal like the one I proposed to make sure they are top 6 in the west and don't mortgage their future since there will be some tweaking/retooling when CP is done (he is looking really washed).

New owner, closing window, desperation... whatever they end up doing it will likely be a short sighted mistake.

Then I think we just keep it at 2024 (they won't be bottom 4-5 so I'm not concerned on protections that much)... and you add them to the super swap with Atlanta/Brooklyn/Philly... or sneak in a 2025 swap with the Cavs or Wolves pick.

I wanted to get a pick in 24 to smooth out our draft picks just a smidge.
