Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

I love how you jump in and protect Donovan without really considering what I said. I said this team will go as far as Donovan takes them... I've said that for like 2-3 years... before the great and ****** playoffs. He was always going to have to be a creator on offense and a good defender. If he wasn't going to be a two-way star in the mold of Jimmy or Kawhi then Donovan plus Rudy wouldn't be good enough.

That statement recognizes Donovan's awesome potential and Rudy's limitations. If I thought he could improve I'd anchor our ceiling to Rudy.

We won't win every series where Donovan plays well, but his play is the baseline that will raise the team's ceiling. Re-arrange all the deck chairs you want... it will still be true unless we find a star who is better than him.
Rudy is the floor. Donovan is the ceiling. As presently constituted, without Rudy we don't get into the playoffs to begin with, but without Donovan having a stellar series and making at least a passable effort on being a 2-way player, we'll never get to the promised land.

Bobby Marks and Locke both thought the Nets might be interested in trading their pick for Royce...so much for that.

They still could. The smart move was always to defer that pick until 2023. Its a pick they own from Philly. Its unprotected next year. James Harden is a free agent, Embiid is a big time health risk... that one has maybe a 25% chance of being a lotto pick if some things break the wrong way. Worst case its a mid 20s pick next year.

Kuzma + Ish Smith for Conley works
It is likely KCP and something else. They love Kuzma. I proposed Deni and KCP and some thought it was absurd. Depends on if you think Mike is just cooked or if he just had a bad series... also depends on what they think of Deni. If he is just his stats its not super impressive... I think he has a chance to be a great super glue guy... he's also working with Drew Hanlen this offseason. If it was KCP+Ish and a second or two I wouldn't be surprised. It does save us some money and Ryan loves saving money.

2023 is a stronger draft. Deferring makes sense.
Not only that... if there is a 5-10% chance it is in the lotto it could become extremely valuable. In Philly weird **** happens on the regular.

KCP and Rui makes more sense. Not like they can pay Rui next year and they need to free up minutes for Deni.

Conley is still a huge positive. He's not a negative asset at all.

Does Donovan want to be Zach Lavine/Demar DeRozan or can he be more like Jimmy Butler or can he at least defend on a Devin Booker level and get a little more efficient? That's what drives our ultimate success.
THe problem is he can't. He's not a super high IQ player. He's got a high scoring feel and a good feel for drive and kick, but he is moderate to low IQ in most other facets of the game.

Yeah but I prefer Deni... I hear ya though. They might complicate the "logjam" on the wing by taking another wing with #10. Its a good problem but not if you are trying to win and can't get enough time on the floor for the developing guys.

I think KCP is a solid wing defender. I'm not super interested in Rui but I'll bet you could find someone that would give you something.

OG and Trent would make sense for Toronto.

Then the Raptors can play massive lineups with Siakim/Gobert/Barnes in the front court.

They can start Yuta at the 2 guard and be an absolute defensive unit.

They would need some more shooting, but they have the 33rd pick on the draft that could be used to address that.

They have Powell at the 2, no?
