Alright... look... if the Lakers are dead set on not including any future first round picks... would you move Mike, KO, Gay for Russ a pick swap with the Philly pick this year and a pocket full of seconds. Lakers also save infinity tax dollars (like $20M this year) and they have salary to attach to their picks for next year when Kyrie gets traded there.

Gay has negative value obvi... Getting out of $30M+ for next year has value. The pick swap has value. Seconds kinda suck but whatevs. I also don't think the Clips deal will come together. We end up with infinity cap space.

It won't jump on Adam Silver's tank radar cuz we help the Lakers. We can sell it as Mike's chance to win a title. It is the ultimate tank move that many have sworn we wouldn't do... so DA zigs to keep everyone guessing.

I would rather not just make a trade for trades sake.

Jazz need to make trades to get worse. Period.

The Jazz have been gifted an extremely competitive NBA where there arent a ton of bottom feeders so they can easily get down to a decent chance at Vic. It's a no brainer. Danny got his cake.

30M+ in cap space... getting a swap that moves us up 8-10 spots is not "doing a trade for trades sake". That is first round value... last year Detroit was able to use their space to acquire picks and move into the late lotto to get Jalen Duren.

Is it amazing value? Probably not... but it absolutely has a purpose.

Meh, it's fun but I take these things with a grain of salt. The "reporting" NBA media is it's own world. It's clear that there's an information game between agents, teams, and the reporters. When someone is outside of the world like JJ or the Jazz radio guys, there's no way to know how "solid" their source is. Everyone wants to have the biggest secret....but I don't take the radio/podcast gossip guys who aren't reporters too seriously...not that I always take the reporters seriously either.

You still have to send other players around to make it work - I’d rather get back a couple of young guys in this deal than have the Lakers just cut two guys to make the rosters work.

Lakers send Max Christie & Troy Brown and the Jazz kick in Leandro Bolmaro and cash to waive him and it gets you there.

You could put Max in the deal but it works as I laid it out already.
