Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

Gobert plays with a bunch of traffic cones on defense and he leads the entire league in this same metric.
Jokic and Embiid are above Rudy in this metric. So much for Rudy Gobert being some generational defender. He's not even a top 2 center on defense when what he really is known for is defense.

I have never applauded Don's defense. I have always said we can easily put up a good enough defense to win a title if he is our worst defender.

Royce is okay,, but our other 2 perimeter defenders suck. Rudy can't guard the perimeter either.

Steph Curry isn't a better defender than Don, but that doesn't matter. Not the point of the story.

Steph Curry and Don tend to get matched up on other teams worst player, but the advanced show on average that the person Don is directly defending shoots at a MUCH higher % than their average.

Steph's defender shoots slightly worse than average, and Steph gets a lot of steals too. Steph is a much smarter player than Don. Don has the capability to be a much better defender than Steph, but the visual test shows Don does not put much emphasis on defense while Steph hustles.

I can't blame Don for this fully, as coaches and management have let him slack. A good coach may put up with a poor defender if they are an offensive star, but they wouldn't put up with a clear lack of effort. Hell, even Harden gets after it more than Don.

Sloan had his faults, but he made sure everyone was accountable. Of course he had the luxury of two superstars that brought it every day.

I'd rather watch a team like the 04 roster play good ball and overachieve and miss the playoffs instead of a talented team like the current roster that is somehow a sinking ship.

That is why I'd like new coaching first, to see if what we have is salvagable before blowing **** up.

Interesting note on this Raptor ********.

The Golden State Warriors have 6 perimeter players above our top perimeter player.
They also have 6 perimeter players above Steph Curry.

Our only 2 players in the top 65 are our centers which tells us all how we structure our defense.

A cute note: Jrue Holiday is ranked worse than Mike Conley on this. That should pretty much make this metric useless.

It's routine. A team puts out a story in the media that says, "We don't want to trade Player X!" This is code for, "We are very open to trading Player X, but we want better offers than we've gotten so far."

Otherwise, why bring it up in the first place...

Rudy's camp could be putting a few things out there also, just because getting traded can be a blow to a guy's ego. This stunt with Shaq is weird.
It wasn't weird. It's what Shaq does. Rudy responded perfectly

And Shaq respected it. Shaq says things and does things to go viral. Can't remember the name of the TNT guy that fills in for Ernie on the alternate crew but he pops on Le Batard here and there and said as much.

Shaq and Rudy probably low key like each other.
