Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

Against the Mavericks we held them to 104 ppg for the series and they really only had two good offensive games against us. In the other 4 games we held them to 93, 99, 102, and 98.

If we're holding them to 102/98, as the team with the #1 offense in the NBA, we have to win those games.

Don was terrible in the series so our offense tanked and we lost.
Your offensive rating in the regular season is fool's gold like Atlanta's. It's not real. In February, I had you and the Hawks on my fraud alert for playing a spammy offense that would easily get exposed in the playoffs. Look at Golden State, their offensive rating was meh but in the playoffs, it was a nightmare to stop their offense. When you spam things in the RS and teams don't have time to adjust, you can catch teams off guard but I was never fooled by Atlanta or Utah's offensive success.

Well why are you on a Jazz board discussing Rudy when you have Collins who is just as impactful and Capela who's basically the same player. You guys are set with two All-NBA level big men.

I'm not going to go back and forth with someone that thinks John Collins is as impactful as Rudy Gobert or that Clint Capela is 90% of the player Rudy is.
No one thinks John Collins is close to being the impact Gobert is. You are making that up to make your trash opinions more credible when you don't know what you are talking about.

You're right, Rudy is $5M more valuable so Collins is 75% of him based on your numbers and Capela is 90% of Rudy. Those are your words not mine.

Like I said he’s gotten worse every year. The last two have been atrocious, but he’s never been a stalwart defender by any means.
You have him playing next to Conley. Before when he was next to Rubio, he could guard PGs where he was much better against but his standing reach is only 8'4, that's below average for a 2 guard defensively. Rubio was defensively versatile and could guard 1s and 2s. That really helped Donovan on defense.

He's 31 years old and limited offensively, when you look at team building value, you only have one max guy, Mitchell. Gobert is a max impact guy but in the mind of team building, he should never be a max cat. You don't pay guys like him and Mutombo that type of money, especially in their 30s.

Rubio wasn’t the same defender when he got here. It’s also not a question of defensive ability it’s a question of effort, and he gives none, and hasn’t for a while

Rudy Gobert is currently 29 years old. Rudy Gobert has been the main reason we've been a 50 win playoff team in the West for 6 consecutive seasons. Rudy is an All-NBA, All-Star, DPOY level player and you just said that Capela is 90% of him and Collins is 80% of him. So why did you guys only win 43 games and have the 26th best defense in the NBA?

@NBASupes

Rudy Gobert is limited offensively.

Last season....
Rudy Gobert: 15.6 ppg on 71% FG
John Collins: 16.2 ppg on 52% FG

In the playoffs the last two seasons...
Rudy Gobert: 14.7 ppg on 74% FG | 12.0 ppg on 64% FG
John Collins: 13.9 ppg on 55% FG | 9.4 ppg on 48% FG

Interesting...

He was still defensively versatile, I didn't say Rubio was good. I think you are asking too much of Mitchell defensively without really making it easier for him. Get a PG like Fultz who can guard 1s and 2s. Get a big wing who's defensive versatile, no one wants to trade them so you gotta draft it. I actually think Utah is fine at the 4 and 5. It's the 1 and 3 where I see all of the issues plus team chemistry is problematic.
