Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

Kyrie is the first shoe that has to drop:

Lakers get Kyrie and Rudy Gay
Nets get Conley and Clarkson
Jazz get Westbrook and a 1st round pick

It's not sexy, but it does save us $30 million for next summer. And adds a 1st. I don't think we have to waive Westbrook either. Maybe we rehab his image a bit as the 6th man until the trade deadline. Or we just agree to a buyout where he takes less money like John Wall did. But $30 million for next summer and another 1st is big.
Yes Westbrook would love to come off the bench for us... Jebus man.

It's pretty obvious the Jazz are Setting a tank up when they don't make those moves that Brooklyn just did. If we were actually trying to put a competitive roster together we'd be giving out those kinds of deals to flyers to see if anyone sticks

We are at 13 roster spots already. I think we’d rather have the flexibility vs signing some randoms.

That's why I said he doesn't have to be waived, but that would be on him.
It’d be a buyout and he wouldn’t even report… he might let us wait until after the trade deadline in case we need his contract for another trade. Westbrook ain’t a come off the bench guy. He will need to get waived and hear every team in the league say no to him just like Melo did before he accepts a lesser role.

If we did have to i would still rather not and just keep him until he expires

For sure. He’s a good dude and can help us off the bench or in a smaller role. The only guy that needs to be off the roster is Gay… that should just be a buyout though. Keep him around so you can use his contract if you want and then buy him out before the season starts if nothing pops up.

Jazz aren't going to just give away Jordan Clarkson. ( lol )

Especially if they keep him to start the season and the most recent sample isn’t him gassed on a team that hates itself.
Right... and with most the pg situations currently settled (except maybe Brooklyn) you just wait for an opportunity. Even if we move Don, Mike won't be so good that we are winning too much to destroy the tank.

I think we are legitimately open to anything. Its a little scary tbh, but Russilo on the BS pod said about Danny "he's always seems like the most patient guy on the call". I think that is good. I think DL was also patient but I felt like he was less active than we currently are.

I think he will make the best deal and I don't buy that he is 100% building around Donovan. That is the smart narrative to sell to Woj. At some point in the next couple weeks we will have to pick a slight direction to plan for the upcoming year. At this point not a lot would surprise me.

That was such a good podcast episode I listened to every second of it.

Bill Simmons legit thinks the Gobert trade could be the worst trade in the last 30 years and all of the other trades he mentioned feeling like this were trash. Sounds like a good omen to me.

Vanderbilt was a good addition and is a sneaky asset we can use in a deal... functional rotation player on a small deal. If we did want Collins for example I could see Bogey and Vanderbilt being enough to entice them. I'm not sure Vandy will be awesome as a center unless we add some bigger wings.

Danny has just done and awesome job so far. We now have so many contracts and players we can use to sell off, reconfigure, make trades work.
