Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

Dug this up from a few years back.

This was the off-season before Randle had the breakout year. Then he got the fat extension and proceeded to suck *** this past year.

Now he's on a pretty expensive 4 year deal where the final year is a player option.

Would the Jazz trade Conley for Randle if the Knicks added in extras?

What would those extras have to be for you to want the deal, and what would the Knicks being willing to give up to get off that Randle contract?
They’d have to send a boat of lightly protected 1sts for me to pull the trigger. He is probably the ********* possible basketball player for the Jazz’s situation whether mostly-running it back or rebuilding so I couldn’t possibly be more opposed to taking his garbage basketball and horrific contract on.

But everything has a price. It would be far, far, far beyond what they’d be willing to send just to get off the contract.

So Charlottes is going to essentially trade 3 first round picks just to get off Hayward's contract (which isnt that bad or long) just to get a 1 year rental of a guy who isnt close to their timeline in terms of age?

That make no sense. They get worse in the short and long-term.
Dumping Hayward probably costs a pick or two because that contract is pretty awful. Washington wants out so I'm not really sure what his value is.

Bojan fits Charlotte quite well. Elite floor spacer for Ball and company.

Maybe Indiana throws some 2nd rounders the way of Charlotte.

Bogey fits Charlotte worse than both PJ and Hayward.

Unless I missed something on Hayward and he isnt expected to be healthy (or there is some huge pressing need to be off his contract) for next season, the contract isnt that bad. They could easily just dump him for a single first or find someone to take him straight up.

If you were a Charlotte fan you would be LIVID over this trade for Charlotte.

So the Locked on Kings guy thinks the #4 pick is going to get traded and went as far as to say the Kings won't pick in the lottery. The GM there should either be fired or extended because he was given a playoff mandate and is going to make some ****** move. Rudy isn't a fit there... but the host mentioned John Collins as a trade target which makes a lot of sense.

So I concocted a wild trade with Rudy/Barnes to Atlanta, Royce, Hunter, Collins #16 to Sacramento, Capela, Holmes, Holiday, #4 to Utah. I don't care that we got two centers... both guys kinda struggle with injuries and they are a little different. Sort it out later... we get value here by taking in the less desirable contracts on some solid NBA players.

At #4 we take Ivey and just bring him to see if he is the Donovan replacement or lead guard we need. Bring him off the bench. If he's amazing do some wonky lineups with both guys out there. Eventually we trade Donovan in 12 months either way... this may push that demand up. I'd also consider moving back one spot to #5 (maybe you get Detroit to take Holmes for the swap) and then take Sharpe who could fit great with Donovan if he stays or replace him if we move him. Sharpe is the big swing of this draft... I think he could be PG meets Bradley Beal or he could be Gerald Green. The background stuff would be key.

I think Ball, Rozier, Bridges and Bojan are pretty damn dynamic. Add in a defensive center, that team is good.

Charlotte might be able to do the trade without one of the picks though so you could be right there.

You know what makes that team better? Sub Bogey for PJ Washington, Gordon Hayward, and either who you can draft or trade for with two top 20 pick.

I hate the 4th pick in this draft tbh.

The issue in Charlotte is money. If the price is too high to move Gordon then I think they move Rozier in a salary dump. They have two picks this year but won't be able to move another pick for a while because they gave an oddly protected pick to NY last year for Kai Jones. They could amend protections but it is unlikely to convey soon and really bothers their ability to trade another pick.

Charlotte has Batum's stretch still on the books and needs to pay Bridges... so they will be a tax team if they stand pat... and they still haven't addressed the center position in a meaningful way. I think Gordo may have had to have surgery but they are likely just generally frustrated with his availability. He's good enough when healthy that I think it is a little short sighted and dumb.

I think they could flip Gordon and Washington to Indiana for either Brogdon or Hield and save a bit off the tax this year using Pacers cap space. Brogdon isn't a great fit... Hield is Hield. I think there are other scenarios that could work.

The Charlotte trade that makes the most sense is Rudy for the Hayward, Washington, 13/15... if they are desperate enough they may throw in McDaniels or Thor as well... maybe a pick swap. If you want to unload Gordo to Indiana or NY you can but an asset goes with it... either Washington or one of those picks.

Charlotte will either trade Gordon, Rozier or Bridges in a sign and trade this offseason. They won't pay the tax. I think Rozier is likely still a positive value deal so that might be the one you move.

A Bogey Hayward swap likely gets you one pick and maybe Washington. You'd have to find some team to dump some salary for matching... Charlotte won't want any other salary back. I think PJ is a terrific trade target...

Also we get to see if Donovan goes Aaron Rogers with us drafting his replacement. Come on... it will be a fun tank move that the FO can sell to fans.

On Checkett's show today, he asked Tony Jones about a trade proposal that one of the Knicks writers threw out of Randle, Reddish, Quickley, 3 firsts and 3 seconds for Donovan. Tony said the Jazz would hang up the phone...he said they don't like Randle at all and don't want anything to do with him. He said if they offered RJ Barret instead of Randle, he thinks the Jazz would at least have a conversation with them about it.

Tony also said that he thinks Royce is very moveable, but he doesn't think the Jazz could get a first for him.

I saw an "article" that had Randle, Quickly, their first this year, and a future second... I almost burned the internet down.
