Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

A long future? Don't tell me you're still in denial about Donovan staying with the Jazz long term.
I don't think he finishes his entire career here, but success can change narratives.

Don, Trent Jr, and OG are an amazing trio. Find a PF for those three, and who knows what the ceiling can be if we stay healthy.

I'm not sure they'd go OG and Trent unless Trent isn't going to extend and OG is unhappy with his role. They'd need more shooting after giving up their two best shooters. I'm sure you could work Bogey or JC into some iteration that would make some sense.

As far as win-now options go I think OG and Trent are about as good a return you could possibly hope for.

So you don't like the Rudy for OG and Trent Jr trade?
I get why Trent gets thrown in for salary purposes, but he's an awful shooter. He's a chucker and not an efficient one.

Beggars can't be choosers, but he just doesn't do a lot for me.

OG was a relatively late first round pick in 2017. That was the draft Spida was selected. He hasn't exactly been durable in the Association. Plus being disgruntled will help the locker room tons.

He's a very serious guy.. no nonsense. I don't think he is a cancer or anything like that. The injuries are concerning but when he plays he's very good and he has a great contract. I think he has a little more to offer but with Barnes and Pascal offering some of those things as well he may not be fully utilized. He's also an "asset" that will be easy to flip for value when we need to blow it up. For example, if they wanted I think they could get #7 pick from the Blazers plus another first with no problem.

I think he's basically the perfect wing to complement Donovan and has improved while not being healthy all the time. If he is able to stay on the court he likely has another big step forward he can take.

I would keep Royce. The more unselfish willing defenders the better. Just imagine how impactful he could be playing 18-20 minutes off the bench instead of 35 as a starter....
Paying $10 mil for that number of minutes quickly makes his contract negative value.

Maybe more importantly, the notion of competing for anything with any of the major pieces we have in place is a fantasy. Get what you can.

If we are hell bent on building around Donovan and trading Rudy then you need to land one good wing in the OG deal... OG or PJ Washington (he's a tweener wing big type). Then you have to hit on a distressed asset like Lonzo Ball or say the Hawks don't want to pay DeAndre Hunter and you swing a Bogey for Hunter deal. You'd also like to get a first and you need to hit on that pick or an undrafted FA and find a contributor. You also need to hit on a diamond in the rough FA like @Saint Cy of JFC 's guy Yuta and hope he is able to be a valuable flex piece for 25 minutes a night.

Its a high degree of difficulty and tbh the exact type of moves we have absolutely whiffed on the last few years.

When you trade a high level player like Rudy you get 3 quarters for your dollar... so some of those quarters gonna have to turn into .50 pieces to make us whole.
