Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

Yep.

Wasn’t there some drama before the last game? I don’t think Ayton played in that game or played sparingly. I remember the Suns coach really refusing to talk about it. But there were rumors about Ayton…

He was scapegoated in that game. Somehow he got the blame when the entire suns core didn't show up. Booker and Paul were brutal in the first half yet Monty chose to call out Ayton. That was some ********.

My only guess would be - it's because he needs to be in the trade to make salaries work and the main value for the Jazz is not Ayton but other pieces. Otherwise it sounds weird.

But in that case- what are the pieces that make it worth it for the Jazz? PHX picks become kind of worthless with KD going there.... maybe if they are unprotected and far enough in the future... like the ones from the Gobert trade?

Building a team on a foundation of 37 y.o. CP and 34 y.o. KD, while giving up Ayton, Bridges and Cam Johnson, is building on quicksand. Those could be valuable picks.

As opposed to what? You guys love picks so much you’d rather draft 25th than have Ayton, who you could very easily trade for more picks down the line anyways lol.
On a max contract at 12 and 8 with a reputation for dogging it? Yeah, that “value” goes negative quick. Before CP3 there were real periods of time where it looked like he might struggle to make a second contract. The dude has been getting his table set by one of the GOATs at that and been whipped into shape by the same player whose the toughest taskmaster in the league. And after all that dogs it in the playoffs anyway.

He will have no such benefits here and have no financial incentive either. He is bad money. I am not sure I’ve seen a clearer case of this degree with regard to a potential max player.

If we were talking about a reclamation project, that’s different. We’re talking about a max. And we’re talking about resetting culture on top of that. I think he’s bad on all of it.

12 and 8? Ayton averaged 17.1 and 10.2 last year. He’s averaged 18/11 before. Not saying we need to go get him but he’s far better than most are making him out to be.

I think all of us realize that Mitchell is a good player, with a lot of flaws, namely defense.

His attitude has gotten really bad, and it’s fairly obvious he won’t re-sign with the Jazz in the future. Might as well trade him for some big chips while the value is high.

I don’t even know what 12 and 8 is referring to??

What we’re talking about here is giving up something wayyy less than what you’d get if you decided to trade him later. If Ayton chooses Utah, we should be over the moon because there is a long list of teams who wish he would have chosen them instead.

You want players on contracts that teams are willing to sign them for. Ayton is that player. You can say he’s not this or that….he’s more valuable than a bad first.

Wow. No chance. This is WAY off the deep end.

I don't understand what you are talking. You mention 12 and 8 but Ayton has never put up those numbers and was definitely never at risk of not getting a second contract. Also the suns really started clicking in the bubble before even adding CP. CP has also missed a bunch of games over the last 2 years and Ayton was the exact same player with Payne at pg. Also I don't think we are even talking about a max contract for Ayton. I'm thinking more in the 4yr 100-110 range.
