Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

That's weird to me. I would assume getting Donovan would make them more likely to keep Randle.

If that the case, then the Jazz definitely arent getting Obi.
I don’t think that’s true, but on the flip side of your point; getting Obi and sticking Randle with them makes them very thin at PF and makes them even more reliant on Randle. For that reason alone, getting Obi is a piece that is a sticking point for me.

Yeah, or that gives the Knicks the springboard to success that legitimately endangers the premium value of the return. I am dead set on him not being in any deal we are a part of.
I think the only reason I might consider it is if our deal is say 5 picks for Don and no Randle... and we know they can move Randle for 2 of those picks in a separate deal... then you might think they will move him anyway... you might as well get those picks.

But yeah... Let them figure that **** out and pawn that deal off... make sure to extract enough **** in the Don deal to ensure it isn't easy.

I had this thought right before seeing your reply. So:

As part of the talks, if/when Randle comes up, the Jazz see if the Knicks have a deal lined up for Randle. If that’s verified somehow, yeah, just grab more assets and take him in. Then you trade him for a smaller deal in a year or straight up buy him out then. I don’t want him poisoning the culture beyond recovery.

I heard something about Hayward/Washington for Randle.

I'm sure it would include one or two of those protected 1st the Knicks have from other teams.

I can see a Knicks Lakers deal for a Randle/Westbrook swap if the Lakers can keep their picks. But yeah that's a slim possibility.

IF you want to compare Donovan Mitchell to an all time great, he aligns much more similarly to Allen Iverson than he does Stephen Curry.
People are just over focusing on 3pt shooting. Obviously nearly anyone you compare Donovan too pre-2010 is going to shoot way less and way worse at 3's.

I agree though. Donovan is the modern day AI. And if you want to compare Donovan to a modern day player, it would be Damian Lillard, not Steph, given his shot profile and playstyle more closely mirrors Lillard.

Especially if they got Washington. Wrap him up in our deal and send him to us.

Hornets do seem like a team that would get Randle... cuz they dumb.

Supposedly Cavs are offering Sexton 3/40M.... that seems pretty wild. Need to work a sign and trade for him. Have to keep them under the tax and match salary. Send a second rounder or two to grease they palms if we need.

Not a fan of a Mitchell/Sexton backcourt. If Mitchell is traded, especially if that drops the Jazz out of the salary cap, than that could be a good place to go. Something like 2/45 if you can get that far under. Good value for both sides.

The reports are from a guy that said the Don trade was basically done a week ago or whatever. They also may want to move on from Randle and are smart enough to know its a good idea, but that doesn't mean another team will bite. Especially not with compensation. I saw reports earlier in the offseason that they weren't going to trade him at his lowest value... in part because it would require some assets.

Their first step needs to be to get Don... you can figure out the rest later. We don't have to solve all their problems. If they want our star they need to pay... that price will hurt their ability to improve beyond that... but their current path is less bright without Donovan. Randle is their problem to solve. If we take him it is because we got like 7/8 firsts and they paid a "randle" tax to do so.
Just my opinion ...

The ways in which we're "solving their problem" shouldn't to be taken any more seriously than the guy you reference (a guy Knicks fans mock in general, to be sure, but they also acknowledge he's probably stumbled across a correct opinion about Randle).

The trade ideas I've seen here -- the ones that the post I responded to was trying to tamp down on -- essentially have Randle replacing Russ in LA (nobody was saying to take him in Utah, btw). That's less believable than the idea that the Knicks don't want to have both DM and Randle. Lakers aren't going to take on Randle's 4-year contract just to (or even as part of) getting rid of Russ. They're especially not going to be adding picks to the process in order to do so (in spite of a few trade ideas thrown around here on Jazzfanz).
