Training Camp 2025

I also don't think that Lauri is a negative contract (at least not yet). In that clip from Lowe he says that there are a lot of teams that want him.

He obviously needs to have a better year than last year, but I think that's very likely.
You know what else is likely? Lauri is a 7-footer getting close to being 30. His playing style is athletic and taxing on the body and he has been having persistent health issues for the last several years. Actually, Lauri said that he was dealing with an injury during this Eurobasket- after the summer of rest!

There is probably about the 15%-20% chance that the 2025/26 season will be an injury-plagued one for him. And, probably, a bit smaller, but not an insignificant chance (10%? 15%?) that he will be dealing with persistent injuries for the rest of his career and his contract becomes a heavy anchor limiting the Jazz in many ways.

It's understandable hoping for a great year from Markkanen but we should be aware of all realistic possibilities.

hey guys, you know how nobody wants to play here? how stars would go to literally at least 3/4ths of the league than come here? how we are never the preferred destination for the vast majority of players in the league and it hurts our feelings and we hate it? here's an idea, let's trade for a guy and he becomes a star and does everything in his power to stay here because he likes it here for his family and the coaching staff. let's trade him. let's tell the league that we don't like anybody either and even if a player likes it here, we would rather trade them away for a dice roll than keep them here. that'll show them.

side note. every single player on this team will leave us as soon as any other team offers the same money as we do. except lauri. how do i know? i've seen it. for a couple of decades. player gets good here, gets money offers, leaves. even though we can match dollar for dollar. almost every time.

Lauri hate continues.

Look there is a 15% chance any player will be hurt this season. Thats silly.

Lauri is 28, not 30. Big difference.

If Lauri restores plays better teams will come calling and last year we didnt want him to play well.

The echo chamber continues, but dont give up your best player for a cup-o-noodles deal.

Honestly I ha ent seen a proposed Lauri trade i would do.

Pistons - Ivey is interesting but dont want Harris contract. Picks are looking to be mid firsts at best. Their team looks solid.

Gsw - not a fan of Kaminga and podz was not great last year.

SAS - is interesting. Sochan is a fun player but cant shoot. I like vassel is good bit i am not doing it with out Harper or castle and that is not happening. Keldon Johnson is meh to me

Lakers are just delusional. I am not trading Lauri for reaves. Jazz could sign him outright next summer and pair Lauri and reaves.

Minny - would be interesting but I dont want Randle and they would need to move him.

Okc - would be amazing but would have to see their package

Memphis - would be great fit but not aure what they offer.

Toronto - but we would have to take Barrett and Ingram probably

Nola - would be fun. I like Murphy and Jones.

Miami but they dont have anything to offer.

Nothing blows me away.

So now we are about a week away from training camp. What are the training camp stories that you will be paying attention to?

Collier & Keyonte is my guess. But wouldn’t be surprised if Clayton bumps one of them to the bench later in the season. Will be fun to watch.

I'm guessing the biggest news out of training camp will be who our starting point guard is going in to preseason?

Both guard positions tbh. Lauri and Kessler are givens, and I think Ace really should as well although it’s probably not a big deal to ease him in. I would personally start Collier+Brice, but what matters most is the lineup combinations. I’d want to pair Collier with Lauri for sure.
