Trey Burke tweets out he's only on the shelf 4 to 6 weeks

Good news on the timetable. The best part is that drastic measures don't need to be taken. I'm not sure how ten day contracts work at the beginning of the season, but I know that non guaranteed guys can play for a bit before they are guaranteed which means that X point guard on the summer roster can fill in as the foul trouble backup without signing someone for a full year who might threaten the minutes of the future.

Meaning that Alec and Lucas can cover for Trey while Machado or someone like him can sit at the end of the bench just in case of foul trouble. Then mid November, if it is obvious that he doesn't have what it takes, we cut him loose.

No one has ever been out 3 months from a broken finger, and only a few have need 2 months. I think 7-8 weeks would be a good target date.

10-Day contracts can't be signed until January 5 (or the first Monday after Jan 5 if falls on a weekend). January 10 is the date that non-guaranteed contracts become guaranteed for the rest of the season, although the player actually has to be cut and clear waivers by January 10, otherwise the guarantee kicks in.

Based on Burke's facial expression the other night when Briggs was walking him off the court holding his finger, it's pretty obvious Burke has never really been injured in his life.

I think it's safe to say he has no clue how long he'll be out.

Derrick Rose tweeted out to him that he should take his time, take the whole year if he needs it to get healthy.

Weak, dude. Do you really think he lazied out of the action the whole time? The poor guy cried for not being able to play. I think this is something that is hard to be emphatic about. I have a bro-in-law that I always played 1on1 who was also a former ball player, his injury kept happening again and again up to the point I could see the tears in his eyes not from pain but from anger and sorrow of not being able to play as he wants. Not being able to move his body like he used to. This is ****ing hell to a basketball player I'm telling you.
