What's new

Trey Burke twitter

They have explained in the past that their committee gets together, gives input, and they decide. Maybe he does have more of a vote than others, but it sounded like ownership and others had input to give at the time. If the bulk of the people want something and it's your first year you may give in more than at a later time to make sure you keep the working relationships good. Feel free to blame though, but I don't give full blame for this one. Generally whey people start a new job, there is a process where you all get used to each other. I will often times leave things alone and see how it has been done before making changes that I want to make. I have seen a lot of stupid things happen when people get a new position and instantly make wholesale changes so it is theirs, so to speak. First understand, then change. Also, it's important that those you work with know you will listen to them and at least give their opinions and wants some weight.

It's not as simple as, he's in charge. All him. It is, but it isn't... if that makes sense.

Sure, but you are willfully ignoring the fact that Corbin was in the last year of his contract and clearly on the way out. I dont buy his voice had that much input.

This. For whatever reason, DL is the golden boy around here and we will twist the story however we can to protect him.

It's fascinating to watch.

Every GM does it. It's a way of giving other people credit. I dont think he did it thinking Burke would suck

The coaching staff might have the least input in drafting players as, I would assume, they do 0 scouting during the season.

What is fascinating to watch is how you present anything less than your negative view as blind homerism of the jazz and their FO.

Actually, it's not fascinating at all.

Do you know me? You assume much in saying I willfully did anything.
Was he really on his way out? I heard he was given certain things he had to accomplish or it didn't look good that he would stay, but it wasn't a given that he would be gone, otherwise they would/should have fired him on the spot.

It is in a GM's best interest to give the people under you the best chance to succeed. Sometimes we make decisions against our better judgement to appease others. I wonder if Burke was also a data point he could use as ammo to get rid of Corbin.

I clearly see it differently than you do and think you are too strong in your judgement. Feel free to see it that way, but I see it differently.

Your posting habits and takes are fascinating to watch. I find comfort in a stance opposite of yours in most cases. I like reading your posts as a sounding board or litmus test of sorts.

I appreciate you. Keep on truckin.

DL is a liar then.

No I just read your post and you didn't acknowledge it...

DL: All right gang, I'm looking at a few prospects, and I'm really liking this kid Giannis...
Corbin: No, we're getting Burke.
DL: Ah, I have a few concerns about...
Corbin: Burke! Burke! Burke!
DL: Ya, I understand you like Trey Burke, and we do need a PG, but...
Corbin: BLAAAAAACK JEEEEESUUUUUS! Who's with me! I'm afraid we have you outnumbered Dennis.
DL: Well, this is a democracy, so I'm going to have to draft this kid that I have no interest in then.

I'm 100% positive the Jazz weren't like "Burke sucks we don't want him" but then Corbin came in and changed everyone's minds.

I agree. There would have had to have been enough thought that he could actually pan out for them to pull the trigger. They would not have done it if there were convinced he sucked.

Nice try. Probably more voices in the room than 2. It's probably not even DL heading up the discussion, but KOC or something.

Corbin could have loved Burke along with other people too. DL probably knew fans hated Corbin and thought Burke was a great pick so he credited the pick to Corbin to create goodwill with the fans.
