Trey Burke. What more do you need?

There's is a lot of negativity with Burke on this board. While no player is above criticism. It appears many here are just hating because Trey is an undersized PG and isn't a physical specimen athletically.

All I read last year was he couldn't drive to the basket. This year he's been way more successful so far getting to the rim. There were questions about his ability to defend. This season he's been a quality defender. Last season posters said he forced too many bad shots. Now he shooting within the flow of the offense. Although it not reflexed in his assist total Trey has move the ball well showing great vision. Can't get an assist if the ball doesn't go through the nets.

The only area he has actually regressed in is his shooting accuracy. Of course this is only 4 games into the season. So my question is what is it that Trey needs to do to impress some of you. It seems to me he has taken some huge leaps in just season two. Just saying he sucks or start Exum isn't really saying much. Farther more it's ignoring the areas of concern last year that appear to be strengths for Burke this season.

Actually he has so far digressed statistically in basically every category, not to mention his defense to me has seemed worse. So all the criticism of Burke so far this season is 100% warranted.

I have far from given up on Trey, especially with how well I thought he played in the preseason. BUT so far in the regular season he has been bad, and worse then last season.

we need a 3'nD wing.... then there are many more fun options to talk about with lineups, roster moves, etc.

Better shooting percentages would be nice

Obviously we can live with his 34%/12% shooting as long as he hits a couple of game winning 3's this season. It is clearly up to the rest of the team to make up for Trey's terrible shooting for 3 1/2 quarters because he is "clutch" in the last 5 minutes of each game.

Some will not like or support him in anyway unless he grows 4 inches, shoots 60% from 3 and averages 40, 20 & 10.

I think the worse thing fans do is just look at stats especially raw stats and draw major conclusions.

As far as your opinion of his defense I strongly disagree.

Kanter, Burke and all the picks we can give for Rondo and Hood for Moe Harkless?

Then a starting line-up of

Rondo
Hay
Moe
Booker
Fave

This is actually what I'm talking about. Of course he has to shoot the ball better we all know that. However it seems some just want to point to the negative and completely ignore so of the other areas it appears he has made a huge leap in. If he's shooting this badly two weeks from now as much of a fan I'll admit he needs to be benched.

Rondo IMO wouldn't fit Snyder system. He would run into the same problems Burke is having.

I've been saying ^this^

I totally agree

If we had a 3'nD I'm not sure we need a PG (even if this new player isn't a lead guard). In the backcourt we could play Exum (for collapsing the D and playmaking), Hayward as a stretch and playmaker, and the new guy. Burks can then back up all three for equal minutes. I am also not sold on our frontcourt, sadly. I think we need Millsap.

Not hating, just recognizing. Have you factored in to your evaluation how important those defects are?

He is not "getting to the rim" or at least I have not seen in watching about 50% of the games. I think "getting to the rim" means dunking it which he cannot do based on the issues above. That said, he has added that high banker layup near the rim which is very nice.

There is improvement, but not sure how much. I cannot say I have noticed better D, still seems to get burned letting guys into the paint. Harp mentioned that last night or the game before.

What do we want? Stay in front of your guy and keep him out the lane. Fewer shots, more makes, more assists.

I think we need Millsap.

Holy ish, PKM singing the same tunes as I am.

1. we need a perimeter defensive specialist who shoots ~35% from three, or better.
2. we need a savvy stretch4... a guy who can make plays.

biggest needs BY FAR.

Yes. I will pose a lineup that requires very little in the way of tough trades.. so not idea, but obtainable.

Exum
Hayward
Millsap
Novak
Favors

That's enough perimeter scoring threats/floor spacing AND good ball handlers to be able to bring Exum along slowly and with opportunity.

Buuuuuuut I waaaaaaant Rondoooooooo. I don't think Exum is ready for big minutes yet and Rondo could help him a lot teaching how to be effective passing and driving. We are not trading for Millsap. We will wait and sign him next year, if we can. Wesley Matthews contract is up too. We can throw money at them. Let Booker go.

Rondo / Exum / who cares
Matthews / Burks / who cares
Hay / Moe Harkless / Ingles
Millsap / Fave / Hay
Fave / Gobert

Someone do the math. I suck at that.

Edit: On a second thought there is no way that works financially. Don't trade for Rondo. Throw Exum to the wolves. Trade Kanter for Moe. Let Booker go.

Sorry for quoting myself..

I would also like to see how effective this would be;

Exum
Korver
Hayward
Millsap

A lot more of Trey's shots this season are coming at the rim actually, and believe it or not he is actually shooting better at the rim too.

My problem is that I'm not convinced Trey is a good shooter. I want him to prove me wrong but ever since he has come into the league, he has struggled shooting the ball everywhere against all competition.
