If we had a 3'nD I'm not sure we need a PG (even if this new player isn't a lead guard). In the backcourt we could play Exum (for collapsing the D and playmaking), Hayward as a stretch and playmaker, and the new guy. Burks can then back up all three for equal minutes. I am also not sold on our frontcourt, sadly. I think we need Millsap.

Not hating, just recognizing. Have you factored in to your evaluation how important those defects are?

All I read last year was he couldn't drive to the basket. This year he's been way more successful so far getting to the rim.

He is not "getting to the rim" or at least I have not seen in watching about 50% of the games. I think "getting to the rim" means dunking it which he cannot do based on the issues above. That said, he has added that high banker layup near the rim which is very nice.
There were questions about his ability to defend. This season he's been a quality defender. Last season posters said he forced too many bad shots. Now he shooting within the flow of the offense. Although it not reflexed in his assist total Trey has move the ball well showing great vision. Can't get an assist if the ball doesn't go through the nets.

The only area he has actually regressed in is his shooting accuracy. Of course this is only 4 games into the season. So my question is what is it that Trey needs to do to impress some of you. It seems to me he has taken some huge leaps in just season two. Just saying he sucks or start Exum isn't really saying much. Farther more it's ignoring the areas of concern last year that appear to be strengths for Burke this season.

There is improvement, but not sure how much. I cannot say I have noticed better D, still seems to get burned letting guys into the paint. Harp mentioned that last night or the game before.

What do we want? Stay in front of your guy and keep him out the lane. Fewer shots, more makes, more assists.

1. we need a perimeter defensive specialist who shoots ~35% from three, or better.
2. we need a savvy stretch4... a guy who can make plays.

biggest needs BY FAR.

Yes. I will pose a lineup that requires very little in the way of tough trades.. so not idea, but obtainable.

That's enough perimeter scoring threats/floor spacing AND good ball handlers to be able to bring Exum along slowly and with opportunity.

Buuuuuuut I waaaaaaant Rondoooooooo. I don't think Exum is ready for big minutes yet and Rondo could help him a lot teaching how to be effective passing and driving. We are not trading for Millsap. We will wait and sign him next year, if we can. Wesley Matthews contract is up too. We can throw money at them. Let Booker go.

Edit: On a second thought there is no way that works financially. Don't trade for Rondo. Throw Exum to the wolves. Trade Kanter for Moe. Let Booker go.

A lot more of Trey's shots this season are coming at the rim actually, and believe it or not he is actually shooting better at the rim too.

My problem is that I'm not convinced Trey is a good shooter. I want him to prove me wrong but ever since he has come into the league, he has struggled shooting the ball everywhere against all competition.

The purpose of this thread was to get into detail. Saying one player plays chess while another plays checkers isn't much detail. Especially comparing a 9 year vet to a 2nd year player.
