Bringing his floater on-line this season was a good start. Hopefully he'll improve it and add more to his game, if not, and Dante takes a mini Gobert-like leap between seasons 1 and 2, it's going to be hard for him.

Kemba, D Will, Mike Conley, and Nick Van Excel all come up. He is similar to them the year before they were effective NBA players.

Basically if he doesn't show good improvement this year it'd be safe to write him off I think.

I would argue that a good chunk of his shots are not good shots. Dribbles the ball till time expires and throws up a prayer just because he decided not to pass it for 10 seconds or more. I'm pretty much done with Trey. I don't see the talent to be anything but a below average backup PG. He's short, slow, and a bad shooter, passer and defender. I don't expect him to be back. And if he is I expect his minutes to decrease a lot this year.

Barely getting the occasional single? How do you figure? Here's how I'd rate the Jazz's recent picks and undrafted rookies, relative to their draft position:

draft picks:
Burke - swing and a miss (probably)
Burks - probably a double
Evans - double
Exum - jury's out
Gobert - home run
Hayward - double or maybe a triple
Hood - triple (and maybe home run, we'll see)
Kanter - not sure how to rate

undrafted rookies:
Cotton - single?
Ingles - double?
Elijah Millsap - single


I'd say the Jazz have done a little better than the NBA average when it comes to their draft picks.

How would you rate them?
 
Burke relies on his jumper way too much. Too bad for him, he's not a great shooter. I thought he would be a p'n roll pg that would feed Favors and Hayward all day. Instead he's a shoot first pg who gets taken advantage of on the defensive side of the ball. I think it's time to trade him with our #12 to move up in the draft...or for a bag of chips.

and did ok with the Burks pick (probably a double with a chance to steal a base and make it to home plate depending on how he improves.)

Burke was a pop fly

dante is still up to bat.

Kanter was a bunt

All in all not bad imo

George is better than Hayward but not by much.

You have to admit that Gobert was a home run, that one's obvious.

Hood at 21 is a fantastic pick.

Kanter is an ok player that puts up good numbers though that pick obviously didn't work out (kanter was the pick that 90% of gm's probably would have made too)

Burks is better that most #12 picks if you look at it historically. (We did miss by not taking leonard though) And I think Burks is not at his peak yet either.

Trading up for trey was horrible.

Like I said, dante is still up to bat and is very hard to judge right now but again, most teams would have taken him at #5 as well.

So I'm not sure why your are pessimistic about how the jazz have drafted.

Our biggest problem with this current team is that we have not aquired any big time free agents. (Possibly by design since we were rebuilding)

From an article on Quin's first year on the part of the site no one visits, comments of maybe even reads (Jazznews) by Ben Dowset:

"Trey Burke was a major disappointment in his second year, although it’s pretty clear at this point he’s just a limited player overall. Some of his more “coachable” elements – things like court awareness, shot selection, and defensive positioning – either stagnated or even backslid some. "
