What's new

Trey Lyles being held out of practice/Summer League for now

I am going back to my prediction that Lyles is going to be traded to NY for Porzingis

It would take a fair bit more than Lyles to make that happen, but the way the Knicks are whiffing in free agency makes that plausible. The Jazz are certain to value Porzi more than a lot of teams.

Wonder if there could be a deal that sends Nene to the Knicks, sends Porzi and trash to the Jazz and sends Lyles to the Knicks or Wizards. Jazz would likely move Booker and Burke.

Another possible one is David Lee + Looney ?

And a first rounder in 2019 and I'd do it if there was nothing else better... not sure what we do with both Looney and Lyles, but I think Looney may end up out for the year with a hip surgery soon.

He's an asset, could be dealt down the line or could turn out better than Lyles for example. Take him, recover him from his injury and let him battle it out with Lyles.

I could see the Knicks moving Porzingis for a deal that includes Nene, another player, and a future 1st-rd pick. That's not terrible for a team that wants to win now.

Possibly. Unfortunately there is nothing else to go on. All we have is assumption and speculation. Personally it fells right to say the Jazz FO is actively looking at something.

Might only be trying to make myself feel better though.
I remember right after the draft pkm said that the jazz were trying to pull off a major deal but that it could take a while to get it done

In his interview with 1280 today, DL dropped a little nugget when he said he received a call that he didn't expect to get.

Something better happen trade-wise if they've got the Lyles contract in limbo causing him to fall behind. He needs to be on the court to learn but this is on DL and not Lyles or his agent.

If you were Lyles would you risk an injury before your contract was resolved. I wouldn't.

Definitely not condoning it, just saying there's precedent. I'd imagine when that sorta stuff happens there's an agreement beforehand on the contract in case of injury.

Like the Jaguars rookie DE Dante Fowler, Jr, who tore his ACL in the first practice. Days before signing his rookie contract at max slot value.
