What's new

Trey Lyles being held out of practice/Summer League for now

This is strange and does perhaps indicate that something more is afoot. What it really comes down to is this kid needs these Summer League minutes and they need to figure out how to get him on the court for Monday night versus the Cs. Plus, I just want to see him play.

They are also going to play in Vegas as well.

It's also not out of the question that the Jazz were having legit tie-ups with Lyles agent over the small details of the contract and DL just took the bullet to protect Lyles from any fan backlash.

Lopez was reported going to the Knicks somewhere around mid-day yesterday. That would have pretty much blown up the rumored deal PKM passed along. Yet Lyles sat out again today.

It's a possibility that there are some legit contract snags for Lyles, but I think those are small possibilities. They should be able to be ironed out quickly. If he sits out again tomorrow, I think the odds are good something else is going on.

That would have been one sweet deal for the Jazz and would have made us instant contenders.

It's a good thing that PKM didn't share it openly on JFC, otherwise it definitely would have fallen through like a day or two earlier.

BTW, I think there is very little reliability to that trader rumor. Indy gets fleeced.

From Peeks:

Indiana
I didn't get all pieces/deets.

I reached out to someone (a coach) and said, "Lyles" to my backyard.

The response, soon after, was, "not so fast, talks about shipping him to Indiana started before the pick even happened." I prodded and all I got was this;

- Lyles, Burke, and multiple unprotected firsts (not sure how many) leave Utah
- Jazz receive PG
- Pacers receive Lyles, Burke, and Melo, and 1 unprotected 1st
- Knicks receive multiple unprotected picks (Jazz) and Hibbert

(I am guessing we were offering two of our own + GSW)

My source was solid and I think the deal had at least a little to do with Utah's selection of Lyles, but I don't know that..

Took NAOS several hours to come up with that 2/10 troll-attempt smh.

From Peeks:

If this deal was in place before the pick was made why didn't it go through? Don't get me wrong. Lyles is who I wanted but if the Jazz were told by other teams to pick Lyles and the Jazz wouldn't have picked him otherwise. The Jazz got screwed.
