Trump Dictatorship and All Things Politics

So awesome that the Nobel Peace Prize is going to a Venezuelan after the disdain and hate trump has shown to Venezuelan people.

Gonna be so much ketchup on the walls in the oval office. Hopefully trump doesn't use his gestapo or military to kill Americans as revenge for not winning the Nobel.

Delusional donald gonna be so sad.

And Norway is aware! Lol…

Kirsti Bergstø, the leader of Norway’s Socialist Left party and its foreign policy spokesperson, said Oslo must be “prepared for anything.”

“Donald Trump is taking the US in an extreme direction, attacking freedom of speech, having masked secret police kidnapping people in broad daylight and cracking down on institutions and the courts. When the president is this volatile and authoritarian, of course we have to be prepared for anything,” Bergstø told the Guardian.

“The Nobel Committee is an independent body and the Norwegian government has no involvement in determining the prizes. But I’m not sure Trump knows that. We have to be prepared for anything from him.”

Sadly, since trump didn't win the Nobel, the stock market is down today due to fears of how trump will react to not winning.
Which is a great indicator that trump doesn't deserve the award.

I doubt actual deserving candidates of the Nobel peace prize cause fear and panic when they don't win.

trump has proved to the world that he treats hamas with more respect than he does Americans who have different opinions than him.

I wonder how many times trump has accused hamas of being corrupt demented devil worshipping warmongering enemy within radical terrorists. Pretty sure less often than he has called Americans who don't like him those things.

The White House slammed the Nobel committee on Friday for playing “politics” with its prestigious peace prize after President Donald Trump lobbied heavily for the honor — only to see it awarded to Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado. The committee said it was honoring her “for her tireless work promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela and for her struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy.”

Her victory came as the Trump administration has repeatedly targeted vessels off Venezuela’s coast, claiming they were “drug ships,” escalating its campaign against Venezuela’s drug cartels.

The White House was bitter in its response to Friday’s award announcement.

President Trump “has the heart of a humanitarian, and there will never be anyone like him who can move mountains with the sheer force of his will,” communications director Steven Cheung said in a post on social media.

“The Nobel Committee proved they place politics over peace,” he added. Trump campaigned heavily for the prize, repeatedly boasting he had ended “seven wars” and reposting tributes on social media.

But he tried to downplay expectations on Thursday, telling reporters in the Oval Office: “They’ll have to do what they do. Whatever they do is fine. I know this: I didn’t do it for that. I did it because I saved a lot of lives.”

It will be interesting to see if maga comparing Americans in a negative light in relation to hamas ends up being a winning strategy to unite Americans.

lol I’m not sure why anyone cares about the merchant of death propaganda award anyway or why anyone would think Trump would win a completely exposed propaganda award. It’s a complete sham and always was. It’s a great idea though if they renamed it after someone deserving and actually awarded it to sincerely.

Turning Point USA, the conservative group founded by activist Charlie Kirk, announced it will stage counterprogramming to the Super Bowl halftime show.

Bad Bunny — born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio in Puerto Rico — is a U.S. citizen and one of the most-streamed artists in the world. His 2022 album, Un Verano Sin Ti, remains the most-streamed album of all time.

House Speaker Mike Johnson told reporters he’d much rather see Lee Greenwood perform at the Super Bowl. Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA” is a staple at rallies for President Donald Trump.

Conservative commentator Tomi Lahren also questioned Bad Bunny’s selection on her podcast, saying, “He’s not an American artist,” before her guest reminded her that Puerto Rico is part of the United States.

While the Super Bowl is considered an American tradition, it has frequently featured international headliners. Rihanna, from Barbados, performed in 2023; The Weeknd, from Canada, in 2021; and Shakira, from Colombia, co-headlined with Jennifer Lopez in 2020. British artists such as Coldplay, The Rolling Stones and Paul McCartney have also performed on the Super Bowl stage.

During Bondi’s appearance before the Senate Judiciary Committee this week, she again emphasized the line, telling the panel’s members that one of her principal priorities is “to end the weaponization of justice” — a goal the attorney general claimed she’d achieved.

There was, of course, a problem with the premise of Bondi’s boasts: One cannot end something that never started. It is an accepted fact in Republican circles that the federal government in general, and the Justice Department in specific, was weaponized during the Biden era, but there hasn't been any evidence to bolster the GOP’s many conspiracy theories.

But as important as that detail remains, there’s an equally problematic element to Bondi’s incessant boasts: The idea that government weaponization came to a sudden and remarkable end upon Trump’s return to power is obviously preposterous.

Of course, it’s not just “critics” who’ve made the case. It’s also reality.

This isn’t an especially close call.

In recent weeks, and in response to a corrupt presidential directive, Trump’s Justice Department secured a highly dubious criminal indictment against one of the president’s favorite targets, and then secured another highly dubious criminal indictment against one of the president’s other favorite targets.

But that’s just the start. Team Trump is also investigating Fani Willis, the Georgia district attorney who tried to hold the president accountable for his alleged post-2020-election crimes. And Democratic Sen. Adam Schiff of California. And former CIA Director John Brennan (a paid contributor to MSNBC). And former White House National Security Adviser John Bolton. And even former President Joe Biden.

And did I mention that, in recent months, a Democratic mayor, a Democratic U.S. House member, the staffer of a different Democratic U.S. House member, a sitting judge and a labor leader have all been criminally charged, detained or taken into custody by Trump administration officials? Because all of that happened, too.

In case that weren’t quite enough, the Times’ report noted that Trump’s Justice Department, which is currently led by Trump’s former personal lawyers, “has fired dozens of career prosecutors, many of whom had worked on cases involving Mr. Trump. And the president and his allies have targeted or pushed out several U.S. attorneys as he seeks quick movement on cases involving a number of his political adversaries.”
