I love the idea that a year ago we existed in a post apocalyptic hellscape and now we are in a golden paradise.

I was good under Obama, I was good under Trump, I was good under Biden, I'm doing just fine right now under Trump. If I was randomly time traveling from 2008 to 2025 I would have to look for subtle clues as to which year I was in. If I was more familiar with apple iPhone models that would probably be the biggest difference I would be able to find out in public.

His stark “everything dark before me/everything golden with me” is one of those simplistic absurdities that baffles me in its ability to….actually work! Lol. The creation of an alternate reality/history, and its continued sustainability, is something to behold, IMHO. On one hand, it’s just “tell a lie often enough”, but he’s used as many lies as it takes, anchored by the Big ones, to give us nothing but a reality tv show. With failing ratings overall. Crazy to see a nation do this to itself.

The apparently eternally ****ed up housing market would give it away if you took a bit to dig a bit deeper. From the years you listed house prices in the same area I'm in now have nearly tripled, so that would be a hint that something is wrong.

From just cruising around town I would never know how much houses cost. By just existing for a little while in a place there is no way to really know who the current President is, or if the place you are in voted Democrat or Republican (well, except that MAGAtards really really really want to talk about it all the ****ing time). Life does not change much in a general sense for a lower middle class straight white man with specific in-demand skills like me based on which party is in power. I'm still gonna be the same generic person and life is still going to be the same generic reality. Changes happen in the margins. Maybe I'm 2.3% better off or 1.7% worse off. It's hard to tell the difference.
