Trump's Coup Attempt

Its truly amazing how many of trumps family members, close friends and co workers end up hating him and going against him. He really struggles to keep relationships with people.

“Why can’t you be like the German generals?” Mr. Trump told John Kelly, his chief of staff, preceding the question with an obscenity

The excerpt depicts Mr. Trump as deeply frustrated by his top military officials, whom he saw as insufficiently loyal or obedient to him.
the chief of staff told Mr. Trump that Germany’s generals had “tried to kill Hitler three times and almost pulled it off.”

Mr. Trump was dismissive, according to the excerpt, apparently unaware of the World War II history that Mr. Kelly, a retired four-star general, knew all too well.

“‘No, no, no, they were totally loyal to him,’ the president replied,” according to the book’s authors. “In his version of history, the generals of the Third Reich had been completely subservient to Hitler; this was the model he wanted for his military. Kelly told Trump that there were no such American generals, but the president was determined to test the proposition.”

Much of the excerpt focuses on Gen. Mark A. Milley, who served as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the country’s top military official, under Mr. Trump. When the president offered him the job, General Milley told him, “I’ll do whatever you ask me to do.” But he quickly soured on the president.

Mr. Trump demanded to send in the military to clear the protesters, but General Milley and other top aides refused. In response, Mr. Trump shouted, “You are all losers!” according to the excerpt. “Turning to Milley, Trump said, ‘Can’t you just shoot them? Just shoot them in the legs or something?’” the authors write.

“It is my belief that you were doing great and irreparable harm to my country,” the general wrote in the letter, which has not been revealed before and was published in its entirety by The New Yorker. General Milley wrote that Mr. Trump did not honor those who had fought against fascism and the Nazis during World War II.

“It’s now obvious to me that you don’t understand that world order,” General Milley wrote. “You don’t understand what the war was all about. In fact, you subscribe to many of the principles that we fought against. And I cannot be a party to that.”

Yet General Milley eventually decided to remain in office so he could ensure that the military could serve as a bulwark against an increasingly out-of-control president, according to the authors of the book.

“‘I’ll just fight him,’” General Milley told his staff, according to the New Yorker excerpt. “The challenge, as he saw it, was to stop Trump from doing any more damage, while also acting in a way that was consistent with his obligation to carry out the orders of his commander in chief. ‘If they want to court-martial me, or put me in prison, have at it.’”

So many people who know trump really well (like family members) and who worked closely with him seem to really think he is a piece of ****.
As your link stated, although Gen. Milley did not resign as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, he considered it, and wrote a letter of resignation. And it’s great!:

“I regret to inform you that I intend to resign as your Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Thank you for the honor of appointing me as senior ranking officer. The events of the last couple weeks have caused me to do deep soul-searching, and I can no longer faithfully support and execute your orders as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. It is my belief that you were doing great and irreparable harm to my country. I believe that you have made a concerted effort over time to politicize the United States military. I thought that I could change that. I’ve come to the realization that I cannot, and I need to step aside and let someone else try to do that.

Second, you are using the military to create fear in the minds of the people—and we are trying to protect the American people. I cannot stand idly by and participate in that attack, verbally or otherwise, on the American people. The American people trust their military and they trust us to protect them against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and our military will do just that. We will not turn our back on the American people.

Third, I swore an oath to the Constitution of the United States and embodied within that Constitution is the idea that says that all men and women are created equal. All men and women are created equal, no matter who you are, whether you are white or Black, Asian, Indian, no matter the color of your skin, no matter if you’re gay, straight or something in between. It doesn’t matter if you’re Catholic, Protestant, Muslim, Jew, or choose not to believe. None of that matters. It doesn’t matter what country you came from, what your last name is—what matters is we’re Americans. We’re all Americans. That under these colors of red, white, and blue—the colors that my parents fought for in World War II—means something around the world. It’s obvious to me that you don’t think of those colors the same way I do. It’s obvious to me that you don’t hold those values dear and the cause that I serve.

And lastly it is my deeply held belief that you’re ruining the international order, and causing significant damage to our country overseas, that was fought for so hard by the Greatest Generation that they instituted in 1945. Between 1914 and 1945, 150 million people were slaughtered in the conduct of war. They were slaughtered because of tyrannies and dictatorships. That generation, like every generation, has fought against that, has fought against fascism, has fought against Nazism, has fought against extremism. It’s now obvious to me that you don’t understand that world order. You don’t understand what the war was all about. In fact, you subscribe to many of the principles that we fought against. And I cannot be a party to that. It is with deep regret that I hereby submit my letter of resignation”.

both McConnell and Graham were appalled by the assault on the Capitol that was incited by Trump after a "Stop the Steal' rally with a disgusted McConnell returning later that night where he saw, "the splintered wood in the door to his Capitol suite left by marauders who had tried to break into his office and attack his staff."

Speaking with his staff, McConnell reportedly told them, "We’ve all known that Trump is crazy. I’m done with him. I will never speak to him again.”

For his part, Graham took to the floor of the Senate to lash out at the former president in a widely shared clip, where he announced, "Trump and I, we had a hell of a journey. I hate it being this way. Oh my God I hate it … but today all I can say is count me out. Enough is enough.”

However, as the book relates, Graham quickly changed his mind after a chance encounter at Reagan National Airport.

According to the book, "Two days later, Trump supporters had harassed Graham as he walked through Reagan National Airport, calling him a 'traitor.' Graham’s resolve crumbled almost immediately. By the time the House was voting to impeach the following week, he had resumed his position as captain of the president’s cheering squad. He even found Trump an impeachment trial lawyer when no one else would step forward to defend him."

Like Graham, many Senate Republicans who experienced a flash of conscience and self-reflection in the wake of the riot had it quickly beaten out of them by Trump’s base.

We get the politicians we deserve. You arseholes deserve these spineless, corrupt, dog whistling, racist, woman hating pricks. The whole republican party is a monstrosity.

Didnt know where to put this one but its mind boggling.

House Republican leaders on Friday unveiled their “Commitment to America” agenda for 2023 ― and with it, an inspirational video full of scenes presented as exceptional imagery of America that were actually stock footage from Russia and Ukraine.

House Republicans used stock footage of a drilling rig in Russia in their video celebrating their vision for America in 2023.

Here is a boy holding a toy airplane who appears in a video from House Republicans celebrating American exceptionalism. This boy was actually filmed in Russia.

The video from House Republicans also featured this woman walking through a European grocery store.

I doubt this was a mistake. The GOP and putin are just becoming more aligned in their vision for america.

HuffPost reached out to House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) for comment as to why GOP leaders rolled out their plan for America with a video featuring stock footage from Russia.

“Interesting how you guys aren’t remotely interested on the issues facing the American people in the video,” responded McCarthy spokesman Mark Bednar.

Also interesting how you dont even say it was a mistake, kevin.

Ah, brilliant. This magnificent vision of a greater country is brought to you by your comrades in the GOP. Make Rodina Great.

So apparently while president trump was scheduled to visit a naval ship near japan and the white house sent out a request to the military to hide a naval ship from trumps view. Why? Because the name of the naval ship is "USS John S McCain". White house officials were so worried that trump would throw a tantrum if he saw the ship with his adversaries (McCain) name on it that they requested that the military hide it from his view. LOL
What a child.

Don't you remember that? I was disgusted, my politics are far from right wing, far from those of the Republican party. I disagree with the ideas the John McCain advocated for but I respected the man, he was a giant, a patriot and an American hero.

John McCain was geopolitically a neocon, would sell out the American people as evidenced by his getting caught as one of the Keating Five, and had frightening authoritarian impulses demonstrated by using his position to weaponize the IRS against his political enemies. John McCain should be praised for his military service and early life, but any praise for McCain as a Senator is entirely misplaced. The Senate is a better place for his not being in it. It is a shame the Navy put his name on one of their boats.

I used to be one of the bird girls at bush gardens. You're wrong in every way, deal with it.

I don't care if you were one of the spice girls. It doesn't change that Senator John McCain, along with 4 other US Senators, was found to have been bought off by Charles Keating in the Lincoln Savings & Loan scandal. It doesn't change that Senator John McCain used his position to get Lois Lerner, the director of the Exempt Organizations unit of the IRS, to audit his political enemies so often that "it is financially ruinous". ...And yes, John McCain was a neocon. McCain was a savvy politician who cultivated an image that was miles away from who he really was as a person while in reality he played the hardest of hard ball to benefit himself.

Oh sure, but when I say it people lose their minds…

As I’ve been saying for years now, those who continue to support trump they are either ridiculously ignorant or they have serious character flaws. He’s that ****** of a person. Those who support him still are ****** people.

So weird that he uses the term “china loving” as an insult. Its ok to like other countries as well as america.
Some people go to china and have a great time there (my brother and cousin did). Some people live there and have fantastic lives.
I have been to other countries and enjoyed myself. Is that some crime to trumpers now?
