Truth About Taliban

I have a question for you:
What does the (pbuh) mean? I'm WAY too lazy to google it.

Peace be upon him. Usually used when we refer to a prophet that has passed away. Though most will only use it when referring to the prophet Muhammad, technically it should also be used when referring to Jesus, Moses, Abraham, etc.

I like how you switch the attention from me to you. It's something women do A LOT. You don't address the statement but rather instead state that I am doing something worse (In your opinion).

Husband : "Hey honey you forget to switch off the lights"
Wife : "I'm tired of you always meddling with my affairs, all you do is sit around all day and watch the Utah Jazz"
(This was the only example I can think of from the top of my head)

I have never stated my beliefs greater then others. However your quote is repeated every time you make a post. If you interpret it that way you are incorrect again. (I'm patiently waiting when your next reply doesn't answer why you put yourself greater then Islam again).

Ugh, I'll bite. Lets go back to the quote:

Dalamon > Pretty much all of Islam > Science > BluesRocker's mom > Your opinion

Heres how I approached this post: I figured that Trout was pleasantly surprised with my posts in that given thread, which shed a completely different light on people of Islamic faith. I can't speak for him, but from what I interpreted from the post, he has probably thought that "Pretty much of all of Islam", or pretty much all of Muslims, were along the mould of people who are condescending, people who wear their hearts on their sleeves, and people who are unreasonable; aka, characteristics that the media typically portrays people to be. Hence, I take it as a sense of pride that I am doing a pretty good job of educating people on a faith that makes me so happy, and that has done so much for me in my life.

Oh absolutely. My family had a few muslim families over for dinner the other night, and all of them spoke on how much Islam had regressed since the 1970s, in terms of politics and freedoms in the Middle East. Id say it started in the second half of the 20th century.....

definitely true, and I think the Iranian Revolution of 1979 was one of the first major outward expressions of those changes

since then it seems it's been one step forward and two steps back

Perhaps you're right.

However, it doesn't bother you that Clown has to constantly bring up his religion as if it's THEE only church on the planet, and anyone who thinks differently is wrong?

sorry Trout, you're way off-base here, you're the one that brought up religion in connection to Bean's post. As written, Bean's post said NOTHING about religion but just regurgitated messages that are heard repeatedly in the public schools, in the media, in posters on public trains and buses, on billboards etc etc etc

personally, I've always thought of the Taliban more as a political party, not a religion. Sort of like the old Irish Republican Army is not a representation of the Catholic religion in Ireland.

actually, as I think about it, that Taliban is in many ways equivalent to the IRA.

us civilians killed by terrorsit in the past 12 years? about 3000.
heck spend half the war on terror money on curs for cancer or aids.

this is just sad

Typical lazy Euro wanting the US to do all the work for them and then get our advancements for free.

But the government CAN and oftentimes does a fine job of funding and promoting the research necessary to make tremendous strides.

Regardless, it seems like you're fine with throwing away billions to make punkass arabs rich (who play both sides of this game. They jackpot around with their Taliban allies while playing the "good boy" card to us... While eating our money).

If repubs were really concerned with debt and government overreach, wouldn't they be demanding the closing of at least half our bases? Bringing the troops home? And spending maybe only 2-3 times as much in defense as the top 10 countries in the world combined?

Couldn't we settle for just a lil less in defense spending? Maybe, just maybe, they could become a lil more thrifty and efficient! It's amazing what a pay reduction could do to productivity and efficiency. Maybe those involved in the military spending could afford a toilet seat less than $300 bucks a bang!

Maybe... Just maybe.... the military has become bloated just like those "entitlement" programs that repubs are constantly ranting about. Meh, naahhhh! Couldn't be! We all know that all other government programs are corrupt and fallible and waste our precious money but the military is exempt! They never waste money! Never ever ever!

Just a thought.

Obama and a democratically crontrolled house and senate increased military spending faster than any other US president.
These same democrats paid for it by cutting education funding and research money.
That is according to Obama's White House, not some think tank. Obama.
It must take a special tool to cram your head as far up your *** as you have it. Jaws of life running in reverse or something.

uhmmmmmm. . . . . if your wife does this "a lot", you must be criticizing her "a lot". . . . . .

on the other hand, if you were, instead, saying stuff like "Honey, you're wonderful", I bet she'd let you talk some more about her. . . . or maybe, as you say, "switch the attention" to you somehow. And not in a bad way.

I bet that works pretty much the same in all religions.

I spent saturday on the USS Midway, now serving as a naval museum in San Diego. They had some old salts giving personal presentations at various points. I got my pic taken in the brig, and listened to some profound militarist swill in the radar room, where they had everything set up to imitate the day we started Desert Storm, including the targets to be bombed in Baghdad, like it was some high point in US glory. Someone asked the brass-brained expert what we are going to do to get the nukes outta Iran. He clearly stated that we would be obliged to save the world once again.

Too stupid for words.

OT Warning!
Were there any other carriers in port across the bay there? If so, did you happen to notice what numbers they had on the side of them?

I didn't even look. Too much fascination with boilers and bunks. The point was made that the USS Midway was being kept seaworthy, and could be put into active military service on short notice. Almost enough excitement in the attitude shown to make me think this is a current issue.
