What's new

TURKEY-GERMANY : Nowitzki- Turkey

It's going to be very interesting to see when he reaches the NBA whether/to what extent JV's tremendous offensive efficiency is partly due to his team's play. Lithuania's team has 4 of the 8 top TS% players among players in the tourney receiving significant minutes. JV's ridiculous 72% is only 4th on his team. Does this all change once he no longer has the great efficiency/passing in the wings and guards opening things up for him? When the system he's in is no longer so obviously superior to other systems?

great obsevation and one of the reasons I felt JV was better fit for Jazz then Kanter. Jazz were always around top teams in assists in league and having a guy who operates so effective on pick and roll would be very beneficial for both pass happy team and a player ( LT leads tourney in assists ). Now Kanter is more like big AL - iso , post up, back to the basket player and it is yet to be seen if he can become effective passer out of the double teams and low block. It might be that Corbin will change Jazz offense to adjust to current roster strength and we will see more iso plays then before and Kanter should thrive in that type of offense.

So nearly half of his average PPG comes from plays Kanter never sees?

big Al is not seeing pick and roll alley-oop dunks either. You need to be good at pick and roll to get those looks. Not saying Kanter can't master it but it is obviously not his game.

If this is your question then I did not feel like answering it as I never used "excited" as an excuse for his TO. Plus I think we can agree on one thing looking at Kanters and JV numbers. Jonas is more TO and foul prone, they both scoring and rebounding about the same but Jonas shooting much better FG, slightly better FT ( actually his regular FT % is over. 800 so I would call him better FT shooter then Kanter despite bad FT shooting in this tourney so far ), has more assists, steals and blocks. Maybe Kanter will get better at passing and shooting with time and JV gets less foul and TO prone. I think it is reasonable to expect that from both.

lets get things clear, JV can never come anything close to Kanter in rebounding, and we will see the difference once they get major mins in nba games. And in my opinion, in teams with same productivity and help level from guards Kanter will have more ppg in nba. Anyway we will see, i dont say Jonas is bad, but he got this numbers with much more help from his teammates while Kanter was too lonely especially on offensive end

I honestly, would like Big Al to stay in utah long years if he had half fundamentals and basketball iq as Kanter

wow, Russia escapes with miracle 3 pt buzzer beater of the backboard by Monia and will play Serbia in 1/4 finals. LT facing Macedonia.
