What's new

Two predictions re Hayward and the future of the team.

The game is more than halfcourt offense though. Gordo is the superior transition, man and team defensive player (ignoring that he's also been a better spot-up 3pt shooter than Foye this season). Giving Foye 2 more minutes per game than Gordo for 3 months was a mistake.

Agreed, but we don't really get as many strong transition opportunities either way due to Al Jefferson being in the paint, lol. The starters are much more half court-oriented. Plus, Tinsley, Williams, Foye and Millsap weren't dreadful in transition. I don't think that Hayward would have improved the transition O so much that it would have translated to more than a win.

I think giving Foye 27mpg was a mistake as well, but for different reasons. I would have kept Haywards minutes at a similar amount as coach, while boosting the play of Carroll and Burks. At the same time, Burks and Carroll would have trouble shooting as many threes as Foye does, at the percentage that Foye does, in order to space things out for Jefferson. So its tricky.

Sandy it seems as if you are justifying foye getting more minutes than hayward for a huge chunk of the season based on the Alfense.

You and gvc and all of us for the most part think that hayward is better than foye..... i think that the coach should play the better players the most minutes

I just saw this from your last post sandy..... "I think giving Foye 27mpg was a mistake as well, but for different reasons. That would have been a good idea as well.

It's not that tricky. If you want a more well-rounded lineup, but don't want to lose Foye's shooting, you give some of Foye's minutes to Hayward. Given Alec's ability to play the 1, especially when paired with Foye or Gordo, you can find minutes for him by cutting Earl's minutes. It's a little tougher with Carroll, admittedly.

The bottom line is Hayward is more effective than any of those guys, even when he plays big minutes. Limiting his minutes so that lesser, easily replaceable veteran players on expiring deals get theirs is stupid. The only potential positive from Gordo getting PT than he deserves and being relegated to a bench role (I don't think the latter should be a problem, really) is that he may decide to be better prepared at the start of the season next year.

Getting Carroll the minutes should have nothing to do with the rotation you described. My opinion is that Hayward should play 30 or more minutes, with about half at each of the wing spots, and Carroll should get at least 20 minutes as a small forward. Burks should play the backup point and get some minutes at the two, and randy foye should get some minutes opposite burks at shooting guard. Just cut earl and Marv out of the lineup. It is not that hard. We just have a bonehead coach.

The big man rotation is the hard one on this team. But in the eyes of jazzfanz it should be cut big AL's minutes and solve the problem.

If only we were the coaches right?

Jjscap and koala... Congrats on getting past the 10 post rule!!!

Oh okay, sweet. I was going to try posting here regularly but the "wait for a moderator to approve your message thing" had me discouraged. 10 isn't so bad.

I wish our players would stop eating the slop at Subway.
