Zach Lowe: “I saw Ty Corbin today, by the way, it was an unpleseant interaction at their shootaround in Brooklyn.”

Bill Simmons: “Oh no is it my fault?”

Zach Lowe: “No for once it was not your fault. Here’s what happened with Ty Corbin. I asked him…I said I watched your team the other night in Houston. It seemed like you know – I asked him a question about their pick-and-roll defense basically it seemed like Derrick Favors and Kanter were coming out pretty far on pick-and-rolls, and is that their strategy every night, are they going to change it by opponent, and he looked at me and is like ‘What you ask me to tell you our scouting report? What – like what are you crazy?’

And I said ‘Well some coaches are willing to talk X’s and O’s with me’ and then he just said ‘Well why don’t you talk to those other coaches then don’t talk to me.’
I said ‘Okay, see you later coach!’”

Bill Simmons: “Wow, Ty Corbin…”

Zach Lowe: “It did not go well for me and Ty Corbin today – it was basically-it did not go well.”

Isn't it strange how angry and defensive Corbin gets whenever anybody asks him a harder question than a typical generic/vague one that can't be answered with "We just need to continue to work hard/improve/get better"?

It's not like PnR defense is a highly complex top secret concept.

What a childish response by Corbin. God forbid he explains a game tactic he was using. Others might use those insights to defeat the Jazz! O.o

I want to ask him:

What's the ONE thing you want your team to excel at? the one thing you want to preach above all others, and never see a drop of focus on?

Do you expect him to reveal his game strategy? You'd post it here and then every other team in the NBA would know what the Jazz were going to do. You should talk to some other coaches.

"Continuing to get better"

If he were to say defense, I'd reach for a pie or a tomato -- whichever was nearer.

I want to ask him if he is going to file for unemployment when he gets fired?

Don't worry, he'll have enough money saved up to buy the state's unemployment division.

He probably could've and should've handled it better but I would hope he is not happy with the teams performance and a bit quick tempered if a more proven coach did this I would guess some here would sing praises that they are happy the coach is showing fire and not being happy with his team.

Well yes, if everything about the situation was different, we would probably feel differently about the situation.

This might be a good sign.. he may be on the defensive knowing the axe is above his head.

In Zach Lowe's defense, asking Corbin to explain [to us common fans] what his reasoning is behind pressuring the ball handler so hard is not asking Corbin to give away anything that every other team does not already know. Stating that [he thinks] Favors is an excellent trapper and wants to utilize his strengths is not going to give away some secret that other team's scouting departments wouldn't already know.

It didn't bother me in the least that he essentially told Lowe to go **** a cactus. Lowe was being a dick to Corbin about a well known Jazz weakness. They've sucked *** for three straight years at guarding pnr from both the guard and the bigs positions.

Screw diplomatic answers. I want real the DMC/Shaq straight up answer, and a **** off d-bag Christmas card from Corbin to Lowe was perfect execution.
