What's new

Ty Corbin is...

Why, working inside out seems to work (esp in playoffs) & hopefully it has clicked w/ Al that passing back out opens up the game for everyone...

Having an inside/outside game is fine. So where are the postups to Millsap? Kanter? Favors? Drives for Burks, CJ, and Hayward? Where are the P&Rs with harris in order to get some good inside high percentage shots? Why not isolate Burks on Korver and let him drive and go inside?

Instead, we see a stagnant offense oriented around getting the ball inside to Jefferson. 4 guys sit out on the perimeter while Al Jefferson wastes the shot clock deciding on what to do. It hasn't really clicked unlike what you said. Jefferson is a volume shooter who doesn't get to the FT line. Nor is he good at passing. He's not an efficient player. Having a few good games with some assists against Dleague teams doesn't change that fact. Notice, how Jefferson gives you fools gold. He gives you good stats against teams without bigmen.

Case in point: Dfavors receiving 1 shot attempt against the Bulls. Jefferson going 8-19, NO FTs, and having just as many turnovers as assists against the Bulls is a perfect example of this.

In this condensed season, I think he is trying to keep everyone involved. Enes is soo young & outside of his put-packs, his O still needs work (4th big). Burks aggressiveness is a breath of fresh air but we are just so deep at the wings, it's hard to get him playing time w/o the risk of losing CJ/Bell's contribution in this truncated season. My only criticism is Coach not playing the hot hands to close out the games (but he's not Coach Pop).

He shouldn't be focused on "keeping everyone involved." He needs to focus on getting this team to play good successful basketball. Playing Josh Howard and Raja Bell over Hayward and Burks is wrong. Enes is fine, he should get at least 15 minutes per game. His O will get better with PT and being involved in the offense. We've seen flashes, like against the Miami Heat. We just need to involve him. Same goes for Favors.

This team is still missing a perimeter threat. This is where i think Klay Thompson (taken just ahead of Burks) could've helped.

I agree that this team could use more perimeter shooters. But why would it matter? Klay would barely be playing with Raja, Howard, and CJ eating his minutes. Also, we could have Klay and Korver outside. As long as Jefferson keeps getting the ball, going 1 on 3, and preventing anyone else from getting into the flow of the game, we'd still look horrible outside.

I bet if we had knock-down shooters, this team would be much better w/ the way we utilize Al.

Doubt it. Jefferson has described himself as a "black hole." Our offense isn't designed to get the ball to knock down shooters... Or to even get them open. Notice how few curls we have anyone. Harpring would constantly (even when approaching retirement) run curls in our offense. Today? No one does.

Sounds like he & Burks are the same type of player then.

What's your point? We aren't utilizing Burks or Hayward.

Coach did have Hayward come off the bench & I think he should continue to do so, w/ Burks starting over Bell (please trade him to LAC for their TPE)

Sorry, Bell started again tonight. And if you think the Clippers would trade a TPE for Bell, then I have real estate in Florida to sell you....

I'm sorry Corbin backers, but your boy just committed thee #1 mistake a coach can ever make.... You cannot bow down to a cancerous player. You NEVER reward an unproductive, angry, and complaining player (Bell) with PT over players that just do their job (Burks).

He has lost a lot of credibility and respect.

The inmate is running the asylum now, and he isn't even a star (like Duron Williams was).

I honestly think, this could have long-term effects on this team. How will Hayward, Favors, Burks, etc trust in Corbin now that he has caved to Bell?

The message sent is, "If you don't like things, complain, and I'll bend over for you."

what is stopping Hayward or Burks from bitching now?

The floodgates have been opened.....

Unless this was a showcase that is a prelude to a trade (which I doubt) than I agree.

^^^ IF all of that is true, it's worse than you even spelled out. KOC allowed the same. I'm not convinced we have all the facts (we don't), but if we have even half the facts, it spells potential disaster .. no hyperbole. You cut a player or fire a coach .. you never cave, ever.

Burks was torched by Korver last game. I think Corbin wanted to let him think on that awhile. Burks will see plenty of minutes after the trade deadline, imo

It hopefully won't matter. Corbin should be fired at year end anyway.

FWIW, Jefferson, in about the same amount of minutes as Millsap is averaging the same amount of assists, way more blocks, committing less fouls, grabbing more rebounds, and shooting at a clip just below that of Millsap. I'm sure another three weeks could swing those numbers a little more back in Millsap's favor but again, FWIW.

Corbin has now won two of his first three games in Los Angeles. You have to go all the way back to the 2005-2006 season to find the last win outside of Corbin's reign.

I'm not going as far as saying he's making a strong push for COY, but we'd be looking at possibly a 4th seed if the Jazz played in the weaker East.
